First time in almost 30 years The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2022, the first major tax reform bill in nearly 30 years, became law in December 2017 and has been in effect for five years, and includes provisions that will begin to apply to Japanese companies last year and this year. In August 2022, the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 was also enacted into law, introducing a corporate minimum tax and clean energy incentives ・. The second pillar of the OECD/G20 tax base erosion ・ profit shifting （ BEPS ） inclusive framework agreed by the OECD （ OECD ）, the GloBE model rule, is expected to be adopted in the future. The second pillar of the GloBE model rules agreed to by the Inclusive Framework Agreement has the potential to have a significant impact on multinational corporate groups, including Japanese companies. This presentation will focus on topics that affect Japanese subsidiaries in the U.S., and will provide a summary of the latest developments in U.S. tax law and related issues that will continue to be updated in the future.
