Festival of India Mela and Parade This Weekend

The annual Festival of India Mela and Parade is coming up this weekend on Saturday, August 16 and Sunday, August 17, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm at 39439 Paseo Padre Parkway! The event is produced by the Federation of Indo-Americans of Northern California. 

This weekend event is a global celebration of unity and diversity, featuring a parade of cultural floats, live music and dance performances, Indian cuisine, handicrafts and shopping bazaar, and family-friendly activities including a Kids' Zone.

New Affordable Housing Property Now Accepting Applications

Applications are now being accepted for *Serra Apartments* [ https://www.serraapts.com/ ], a new affordable housing property located at 42000 Osgood Road in Fremont. This new property is for income-eligible households and will be managed by St. Anton Multifamily. Applications are being accepted for 177 rental units, and the deadline to apply is Thursday, August 21 by 5:00 pm. City Labor Negotiations Update

On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, during a Special City Council meeting, the City Council unanimously adopted a resolution approving a tentative labor agreement with the Fremont Association of Management Employees (FAME), which represents 124 managers throughout the City. The agreement includes a modest compensation and health-benefit allowance increase, a parity (“me-too”) clause and is for a period of one-year (August 10, 2025 - June 30, 2026). Staff will return to the City Council with recommended adjustments to the Fiscal Year 2025/26 Adopted Operating Budget reflecting the financial terms of the approved Memorandum of Understanding. 

The City continues to engage in good faith negotiations with its eight remaining labor groups.

The City is excited to participate in National Coastal Cleanup Day again this year on Saturday, September 20 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. We’ll be hosting various volunteer cleanup events throughout Fremont to keep our local creeks and waterways free from litter and debris.

Mark your calendar for Wednesday, August 20 at 6:00 am. Registration for our cleanup events will open at this time, and spots can fill up quickly. Senior Peer Counseling Program Seeking Volunteers

The City’s Aging and Family Services Division Tri-Cities Senior Peer Counseling Program (SPC) is seeking compassionate volunteers to provide one-on-one emotional support to older adults in our community who may be experiencing loneliness, grief, isolation, or major life transitions. Trained older adults, who understand the challenges of aging, provide counseling and emotional support both in the home or in our counseling offices. SPC Program serves seniors facing challenges such as grief and loss, life transitions, family conflict, depression and anxiety, and physical changes. The SPC program is supervised by a trained counselor who reports to the Clinical Supervisor.
