Academy Award Movie Week is back! Enjoy a lineup of award nominated movies in Multipurpose B Room from April 7 to April 11. Showtimes below.

This month's workshops include: Spring Themed Watercolors, Understanding Pain, Safety and Support - A Guide for Older Adults, Fall Prevention, and Rent Stabilization 101 in Mountain View.

Understanding Pain, Safety and Support: A Guide for Older Adults

This workshop helps Santa Clara County seniors address pain, home safety, and end-of-life care. Learn common pain causes, avoid risky home activities, and discover practical safety tips to prevent falls. Understand palliative and hospice care qualifications, debunk hospice myths, and explore support for patients and families. Gain insights into anticipatory grief and how to navigate it with resilience.

The City of Mountain View’s Rent Stabilization Division offers workshops to enhance community awareness and understanding of local rental protections. Attend to learn essential information about rent stabilization and tenant rights in Mountain View.

Indoor Dining

The Community Services Agency’s Senior Nutrition Program offers dine-in meals in the Social Hall of the Mountain View Senior Center. Doors open at 10:30 a.m., sign-in starts at 11 a.m., and lunch is served from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The Social Hall closes at 1 p.m. A $3 donation is suggested for permanent residents 60+ of Santa Clara County.

*Lunch service is first come, first served and availability is not guaranteed.*

SALA

Senior Adult Legal Assistance (SALA) offers free legal services at the Senior Center on the first Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. for Santa Clara County residents aged 60 or older. Pre-registration is required, and space is limited. 




SECOND HARVEST

Free Grocery pick-up is the first through fourth Tuesday of each month, 8:30 - 10 a.m. Pre-registration is required. For more information, visit the Front Desk or stop by during program hours. Sponsored by the Second Harvest Food Bank [ http://www.shfb.org/ ].






BP screening

Free blood pressure screenings are offered by a volunteer registered nurse on the second and fourth Fridays of each month from 11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. in Multipurpose Room A. No registration required. 




HICAP new

Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) appointments are available at the Senior Center on the second Tuesday of each month from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. A volunteer counselor can assist with your health care options and rights. Pre-registration required, and space is limited.

Having trouble with your iPad or iPhone? Schedule a 30 minute appointment with a volunteer, available Thursdays from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. in the Lobby, to get your questions answered. Pre-registration is required. 




AARP TAX PREP

AARP Tax-Aide appointments for the 2024 filing season are fully booked. 

Post-season tax assistance with certified volunteers begins in May, available on the second and fourth Wednesdays at 9 and 10 a.m. Pre-registration is required. 

Volunteers offer free e-filing and assistance for low-to-medium income taxpayers.

Initial and Refresher Driver Safety Courses are offered periodically throughout the year at the Mountain View Senior Center. Cost: $20 for AARP members; $25 for non-AARP members. Please pay on first day of course by check or cash only. Check is preferred. Credit cards are not accepted.

Initial Course: April 21 and April 22 from 4 - 8 p.m.

The Book Club meets the second Wednesday of each month at 11 a.m. in the Meeting Room. Starting in May, meeting will be held on the second Thursday of the month at 2 p.m. in the same room. 

April's book is "Loneliness and Company" by Charlee Dryoff and the May's book is "Too Soon" by Betty Shamieh.

A welcome tour of the Senior Center is held on the third Tuesday of each month at 2 p.m. in the Lobby. During the tour, Staff will provide an overview of classes, upcoming events, social services, and more.

The Senior Advisory Committee (SAC) meets on the third Wednesday of the month in June, Sept., and Dec. at 4:15 p.m. in the Meeting Room of the MVSC.
