To achieve the Council-approved concept of downtown's Pedestrian Mall, pedestrian scrambles are being implemented at 1st Avenue & B Street, 2nd Avenue & B Street and 3rd Avenue & B Street. A pedestrian scramble increases pedestrian safety and visibility by pausing all vehicle traffic, allowing pedestrians to cross in all directions, including diagonally. To navigate a pedestrian scramble, pedestrians are to cross only when the "Walk" sign is displayed. New pedestrian signals will also be placed for diagonal foot traffic. Construction will last approximately one week starting April 14. During construction, vehicular signals at each intersection will be set to flashing red. Pedestrians and drivers should remain aware of work zones. Parks and Recreation News Don’t Miss Out on Awesome Summer Camp Plans!
