*Street Tree Planting Program*

Urban trees are heroes when it comes to improving the quality of life in Santa Clara. According to the Arbor Day Foundation, trees provide environmental and economic benefits, including carbon sequestration, reduced air pollution, reduced stormwater runoff, and cost savings associated with providing shade which cools buildings. Street trees play an important role in creating healthy and thriving neighborhoods. Help beautify your community by having a City street tree planted within the public right-of-way in front of your home.

To request a tree: call 408-615-3080, email *Street@SantaClaraCA.gov*; or complete an *online request form [ https://www.santaclaraca.gov/services/make-a-service-request ]*.

Recycled Water APWA Award
*Bassett Street Recycled Water APWA Award*

Water & Sewer Utilities is excited to share that the American Public Works Association’s Silicon Valley Chapter recognized the Bassett Street Project as 2024 Project of the Year for Emergency Repair.

At a May 15 luncheon, Water & Sewer Utilities received a plaque for its skilled management of an emergency repair to a 24-inch, steel recycled water main, damaged by a contractor last summer.

Not only did City crews stop the leak and repair the main without any service interruptions, but they used the time waiting for the replacement 40-foot pipe section to install a recycled water fill station for cleaning and construction use by the City and construction contractors, helping to further the City’s sustainability goals: lemonade from lemons!

Congratulations on a well-handled emergency situation.
