-------- ASSAULT INVESTIGATION UPDATE #1 -------------------------------------

Los Altos, Calif. — September 23, 2024 — The Los Altos Police Department
is releasing a sketch and description of the suspect involved in an assault
with a deadly weapon that occurred on Monday, September 16, sometime in the
late morning to mid-afternoon, in the area of Foothill Expressway and Highway
280.

The suspect is described as a White male, possibly twenty to forty years of
age, approximately 6’ tall, 180 pounds, with a thin to average build. The
suspect wore a long-sleeve shirt, pants, and possibly a baseball cap.

Following the original press release (Tuesday, September 17) and subsequent
stories from our media partners, a witness came forward with information that
helped create a sketch and description of the suspect.

The victim, an 89-year-old male Los Altos resident, has been released from
the hospital to recover at home. Los Altos Police extends well wishes to the
victim and his family as they heal from this traumatic experience.

This is an active investigation, and information will be released as it
becomes available.
