There is no obligation to file a "notification of loss of family register （ notification of loss of nationality ）" with the Japanese consulate, and unless you do so, your Japanese family register will remain, so you should be able to renew your Japanese passport "in Japan" and effectively keep your dual nationality. I need to receive a negative certificate on Saturday since my flight is on Monday, and I was considering going to CVS → to get a certificate made at Kobayashi Clinic, but this idea was rejected because they do not offer service on weekends and I would not be able to make my flight in time.
If you are flying on a weekday, Kobayashi Clinic's certificate preparation sounds good.
I will have to issue a high negative certificate … which is hard … since I am with my child.

I recommend Worksite Labs, which I use all the time, for a plan that emails me a negative certificate in the format specified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs within 24 hours ＄ 90. There are faster and more expensive plans available, but I think this is sufficient. even though the service is within 24 hours, I have received my certificates within half a day twice in the past. The SF Downtown site I use is very convenient and has a parking garage as well. There is also a site in San Jose. I returned to Japan on April 28 and was able to enter the country as usual with this certificate. I think this is a rule specific to Japan, but as of April 25, "Antigen and RT-PCR are different test types. I do not believe Japan accepts antigen testing. I think RT-PCR testing would be safer.
