Your Weekly South City Update | Concert in the Park tomorrow, State of the City, Scam Stopper replay and more | September 20, 2024

Mayor's Update     Hello neighbor! Tomorrow is a busy day with the ribbon-cutting of the new Karyl Matsumoto Plaza and Inspire sculpture at 9 a.m. and the launch of Caltrain’s new electric trains. Concert in the Park also takes place at Orange Memorial Park Picnic Meadow beginning at 11:30 a.m. with the Grammy Award-winning musical group Dazz Band and the acclaimed Blessid Union of Souls. I hope to see you at both of these events!   The Inspire Sculpture runs entirely on wind power? The movement of the individual circles is completely run by wind power. There are no motors. Each circle is perfectly balanced so that they would move with the slightest air currents. Under the most severe wind conditions, as the circles start to turn faster, centrifugal force will flatten out their positions and thus minimize surface area. Inspire is fabricated entirely in Stainless Steel and stands at 24’ high with the pedestal. Come see the new sculpture designed by Jonathan Russell and Saori Ide of Ride Art Studio at the new Karyl Matsumoto Plaza on Airport and Grand.   Coastal Cleanup Day Also happening tomorrow is Coastal Cleanup Day on from 9 A.M. - 12 P.M. Our Water Quality Control Plant Environmental Compliance and San Mateo County Public Works will be gathering at the Utah Bridge in South San Francisco to clean up our beautiful waterways.
