*City Offices Closed Nov. 11 in Observance of Veterans Day*

In observance of Veterans Day, City of Fremont offices will be closed on Monday, November 11. The City thanks all those who have served and those who continue to serve our country.

*Upcoming Council Meeting on November 12*

At next week’s City Council meeting on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, which begins at 7:00 pm at City Hall, 3300 Capitol Ave., the meeting agenda will include the following items and more:


* Second Reading and Adoption of an Ordinance of the City of Fremont Amending Fremont Municipal Code Section 10.05.550 Restricting On-Street Parking to 72 Hours and Adding Section 10.05.555 Restricting Oversized Parking in Residential Areas.
* Fiscal Year 2023/24 Year-End Budget Report – Informational Report and Presentation of Year-End Results for FY 2023/24.
* Adopt Resolution to Update Local Hazard Mitigation Plan – Update the 2016 City of Fremont Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) by adopting the 2024 Tri-Cities LHMP Update. Authorize staff to make any interim updates.
* Wi-Fi Equipment Installation for the Six Commercial Districts.

November is Native American Heritage Month

During the month of November, the City invites everyone to celebrate the diversity of our community and to recognize the importance of sharing our culture, customs, and traditions with those around us. A Native American Heritage Month flag is on display throughout November at City Hall.

*Fire Chief Zoraida Diaz Appointed to State Board of Fire Services*

Last month, Governor Newsom *announced* [ https://www.gov.ca.gov/2024/10/31/governor-newsom-announces-appointments-10-31-24/ ] the appointment of Fire Chief Zoraida Diaz to the State Board of Fire Services. The State Board of Fire Services is an 18-member advisory board to the California State Fire Marshal. The Board is comprised of representatives of fire service labor, fire chiefs, fire districts, volunteer firefighters, city and county government, Office of Emergency Services, and the insurance industry. The Board provides a forum for addressing fire protection and prevention issues of statewide concern; develops technical and performance standards for training of fire service personnel; accredits curriculum; establishes policy for the certification system for the California Fire Service; advises the State Fire Marshal on dissemination of regulations; and sits as an appeals board on the application of California State Fire Marshal regulations.

Chief Diaz was sworn-in on November 5.

Chief Washington is committed to ensuring Fremont Police Department personnel serve with dignity, respect, and fairness. The Chief actively seeks community input and fosters a diverse department.
