District 1 News - Councilmember Albert Gonzalez

As August draws to a close, we reflect on a vibrant and productive summer across our city. From packed parks and bustling farmers markets to successful community events like the Sunset Cinemas, Concerts in the Park and National Night Out, our residents showed up with energy, creativity, and civic pride. We thank all departments and volunteers who helped make these moments possible.

Looking ahead to September, we shift gears toward fall priorities. School is back in session, and we’ll continue supporting safe routes and youth programs. So be careful as you drive near and around schools when children are present.

September also brings Hispanic Heritage Month, and we encourage everyone to participate in the city’s cultural celebrations, as well as look into joining one of our commissions.

We remain focused on key initiatives: housing, climate resilience, and public safety. As always, we welcome community input and collaboration. Let’s carry the momentum of summer into a purposeful and engaged fall season.

Thank you for your continued leadership and service.

I was able to visit the Hetch Hetchy Dam which is where some of the water in District 1 comes from.

Gateway Crossings Park near the Santa Clara Costo

We had a ribbon cutting at our newest park, Gateway Crossings Park near the Santa Clara Costo and engaged with many folks including Chris Wondolowski, a former Earthquakes player.

Laurelwood Elementary Signing

As the construction of the new Laurelwood Elementary school moves along I was able to join my former Santa Clara Unified School District Board Members in signing a beam that was placed in the new cafeteria.
