Email from City Manager's Office Palo Alto community news, announcements, and events View as Webpage   What's New Palo Alto Fire Department Staffing at Fire Station 4 Community Connections: Teen Services Join the Cubberley Conversation Storm Update – Windy and Cold Weekend Forecast Weekly City Manager Updates: February 3 Citywide Updates Palo Alto Fire Department Staffing at Fire Station 4 A new community update addresses concerns raised by some community members about Fire Department response capabilities, staffing levels, and specifically Fire Station 4 located on Middlefield Road. Also previewed is a near-term recommendation to prioritize staffing to add a fire engine at Fire Station 4. This recommendation supports emergency response citywide while long-term staffing and funding options continue to take shape to respond to changing service demand, population growth and other priorities. Save the date for a neighborhood briefing on Thursday, February 13 at 5 p.m. at Mitchell Park Community Center, more details to come. Community Connections: Teen Services The City of Palo Alto provides high quality community services and programs to its residents and our monthly series celebrates our partners helping us build community and foster connectedness through the work they do on behalf of the City advancing the City Council’s 2025 priority Public Safety, Wellness & Belonging. This month a special focus is on teen services offered at our libraries, community centers, allcove and more! Read past series updates on senior services and Magical Bridge Foundation. Join the Cubberley Conversation A master planning effort is underway to design a new community center on the Cubberley site. A project website is live, and the community can sign-up for regular updates to track milestones. Join the conversation: City Council Visioning Workshop on February 18 at 5:30 p.m. at Mitchell Park Community Center, El Palo Alto Room and save the date for the first Community Meeting on March 19 at 6 p.m. at the Cubberley Pavilion. Storm Update - Windy and Cold Weekend Forecast The National Weather Service revised forecast notes a Wind Advisory for the Bay Area through Friday morning with wind gusts possible up to 50 mph and heavy periods of rain. Palo Alto flood risk remains low. There is a 10% chance of isolated thunderstorms and cold temperatures to remain through the weekend. Possible community impacts may include water ponding and debris in roadways and power outages. An Inclement Weather Alert was issued for Santa Clara County and the City's Overnight Warming Location (OWL) at Downtown Library El Camino Room will be open from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. through next Monday. Recipe of the Week: Here’s a heart healthy baked salmon recipe packed with omega-3 fatty acids. For a sustainable twist, use fresh and local ingredients like herbs from a garden or lemons from trees instead of opting for packaged store items. Family Resources Rinconada Library 10-Year Anniversary Celebration: Join the festivities for the 10-year anniversary of the Rinconada Library on Saturday, February 8 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Activities for all ages include architectural tours, speeches, and musical performances. Special commemorative library cards will also be available! And drop by early with the kids that day for a Bubble Show with Miss Molly Bubbles at 2 p.m. Black History Month: This February celebrate Black History Month to recognize the contributions of African Americans to our history and culture. This year’s theme, "African Americans and Labor," highlights how work of all kinds has been a part of the Black experience. Learn about books, music, and film by the Black community and attend local events and programs at the Palo Alto Library. Summer Camp DigiDraw Deadline: Kids can enjoy the wide variety of summer camps offered by the City’s Children’s Theatre, Art Center, Palo Alto Junior Museum & Zoo, and more. Palo Alto residents can submit their summer camp DigiDraw submission forms until February 16. For camp openings that remain, general registration for residents opens on February 27 and March 6 for non-residents. Calling All Photographers! Join the Photography Meetup for intermediate and advanced photographers to discuss techniques and tips to improve your craft on the 2nd Sunday of every month starting February 9 at 10 a.m. at Mitchell Park Library. Beginners can register for the Mastering Your Camera workshop series starting Sunday, February 9 at 11 a.m. at Mitchell Park Library.
