Whether you're celebrating love, friendship, or simply enjoying a day out, our city has something special for everyone. If you haven't made plans yet, why not explore one of our many fantastic local restaurants? They’re serving up delicious offerings today and throughout the weekend. Treat yourself, your loved ones, or your friends to a memorable meal and support our vibrant local dining scene. Enjoy the day, everyone! In the spirit of Valentine's Day, I had the incredible privilege of joining our amazing senior community at the Roberta Cerri Teglia Center. Together, we crafted heartfelt Valentines for our brave troops. The room was filled with laughter, creativity, and a true sense of togetherness. We shared a delicious breakfast, and it was a fantastic display of our community's love and support. We also had special guests, our very own Pre-K little ones, who helped me decorate and add fun stickers to our cards. Let's continue to spread joy and kindness, not just today, but every day! Last Friday, our city came alive with the vibrant energy of over 1,000 attendees from all generations, young and old, at our very first Lunar New Year Night Market! The turnout was simply incredible, and the sense of community was palpable. We were thrilled to see everyone enjoying the festivities, from the mesmerizing Lion Dancers to the delicious array of food at each booth. Councilmember Nagales (D2) and Councilmember Coleman (D4) joined in the fun, and it was heartwarming to see the joy on your faces as you explored the market. A huge thank you to our generous sponsors, OMG Entertainment, Genentech, and the National League of Cities, for making this event possible. We also extend our gratitude to our city services, partnerships, and most importantly, to all the residents, visitors, and community members who brought such a fun buzz to the night. May this Lunar New Year bring us all more joy, good health, and fortune! Gong hay fat choy! Learn More   Did You Know: Metallic balloons can disrupt electric service? Valentine’s Day sees more metallic balloon sales than any other holiday—and also a spike in power outages caused by balloons drifting into overhead lines. In 2024, these balloons caused 369 outages across PG&E’s service area, affecting over 230,000 homes and businesses. To prevent outages and safety hazards, PG&E urges customers to: ✅ Keep helium-filled metallic balloons tied to a weight (required by CA law). ✅ Never release balloons outdoors—puncture and dispose of them properly. ✅ Stay away from power lines and call 1-800-743-5000 if a balloon gets tangled. ✅ Treat all downed power lines as dangerous—stay back and call 911. For a visual reminder of the risks, watch this video: YouTube Link. Keep Valentine’s Day safe—tie down your balloons!     COMMUNITY RESOURCES Free Bus Passes for Students!
