Peninsula Council of Lions Honors South San Francisco First Responders

Email from City of South San Francisco Detective Diana Quintero, Corporal Steve Miller, and Dispatch Supervisor Janet Quintero-Isla recognized PRESS RELEASE Monday, March 31, 2025 Peninsula Council of Lions Honors South San Francisco First Responders 60th Annual Police and Firefighter Awards Banquet celebrates first responders for outstanding service, bravery, and heroic acts   SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., March 31, 2025 – On March 28, 2025, the Peninsula Council of Lions Clubs hosted its 60th annual Police and Firefighters Awards Ceremony at the Crowne Plaza Foster City to celebrate outstanding first responders from all across San Mateo County. “We are proud to announce that our very own Detective Diana Quintero, Corporal Steve Miller, and Dispatch Supervisor Janet Quintero-Isla were among those honored,” shared Police Chief Scott Campbell. Award Recipients: Detective Diana Quintero – Police Service Award as a coordinator of the Academia de la Communidad, strengthening the relationship between the Police Department and the SSF Latino community, and for her tireless work as a Sexual Assault Investigator, Child Forensic Interviewer and victims of Domestic Violence advocate. Corporal Steve Miller – Police Valor Award for a 4-hr long negotiation of a suicidal person threatening suicide by cop and actively harming himself. Steve built rapport with this person and through patience, compassion and empathy, he was able to help de-escalate the situation for a safe surrender, allowing this individual to get the help he needed. Dispatch Supervisor Janet Quintero-Isla – Police Service Award for her years of dedicated community service to SSF through Community Academies, Explorer Post 850, and the annual Holiday Food and Toy drives. Janet also revived the “911 for Kids” Program to help educate and prepare children for emergencies. “Congratulations to all the awardees, and thank you to the Peninsula Council of Lions for recognizing these extraordinary public servants,” said Chief Campbell. “We couldn’t be more proud.
