Fremont's Microgrids Earn National Spotlight in Resilience Report
Fremont's innovative approach to climate resilience is receiving national attention! Our fire station microgrid project is featured in a new report, “Building Community Resilience: How Local Leaders are Advancing Resilience Hubs and Bolstering Critical Infrastructure. (https://www.c2es.org/document/building-community-resilience-how-local-leaders-are-advancing-resilience-hubs-and-bolstering-critical-infrastructure/) ” The report is published by the Alliance for a Sustainable Future (https://www.c2es.org/building-climate-resilience/mayors-business-alliance-for-a-sustainable-future/) , which is a partnership between the U.S. Conference of Mayors (https://www.usmayors.org/) and the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (https://www.c2es.org/) . One of their goals is to inform mayors, local officials, and business leaders of innovative new strategies that could present an opportunity for their own communities to reach their climate goals.
In the report, Fremont is highlighted as a prime example of how cities are strengthening critical infrastructure facilities. The report includes a case study describing how Fremont’s fire station microgrids—solar panels and battery energy storage systems—reduce greenhouse gas emissions, save money, and ensure emergency services remain operational during power outages. This national spotlight highlights the City’s commitment to building a more resilient, climate-ready future for our community.
The City thanks the Alliance for a Sustainable Future for featuring Fremont and helping to advance community resilience efforts nationwide.

Residential Water Study
Alameda County Water District (ACWD) (https://www.acwd.org/) is participating in the 2025 Residential End Uses of Water study, which is funded by the Water Research Foundation (https://www.waterrf.org/) and conducted every decade to analyze water use in homes across the U.S. and Canada. This study helps water agencies better understand consumption patterns and plan for a sustainable water future.
ACWD is inviting Fremont residents to participate in the study by completing a short, five-minute survey (https://survey.survicate.com/acb578417783917b) about household water use. By participating, you’ll join thousands of people across the U.S. and Canada in providing valuable insights. You’ll also have a chance to win an iPad (home address required for entry). The survey is completely anonymous and must be completed by March 31, 2025. Your input is essential in shaping future water conservation efforts.
