"The vast majority of those who occupied the White House never came close to replicating the extraordinary leadership of the likes of Washington, Lincoln or Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Why?" In this talk, award-winning speaker Gerald Henig will shed light on this pivotal question. Join us to hear little-known, compelling and, in some cases, startling insights about our former presidents.

 

Gerald Henig has been a professor at CSU East Bay for 39 years. He is author of the book "America's Presidents: What Your History Teacher Never Told You".

Monday, Feb. 3, 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Join us for a lightly moderated discussion of death over tea and snacks.

At a Death Café, people—often strangers—gather to discuss death. We invite people in all phases of life to come talk about death and dying in a supportive, unstructured way. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session.

 

This program is for adults only. It will take place in the Library Program Room. Please arrive early to get yourself a warm beverage so we can begin the discussion on time. We will close the doors at 6:40 p.m. to minimize disruptions.

 

Registration is not required.

Silent Book Clubs are catching on around the world, as a way to meet other book lovers in your area and read together in quiet camaraderie. Bring a book of your choice, or choose one from the Library's shelves. After an hour of silent reading, there will be time to socialize with your neighbors about what you've read or anything else.

 

This program will take place in the Library Program Room.
