Heat Advisory

The City of Mountain View has resources available to those in need during this upcoming period of hot weather forecast by the National Weather Service

Heat Advisory
Post Date: 09/30/2024 1:41 p.m. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the San Francisco Bay Area beginning 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 30 through 11 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2. Afternoon high temperatures are expected to exceed average temperatures for most locations, resulting in an increased risk for those sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling or adequate hydration.

Take care of yourself and your families by adhering to the following preparedness actions:

• Drink plenty of fluids.
• Stay in air-conditioned areas or go to an air-conditioned building if you do not have A/C.
• Limit outdoor activities during the hottest time of the day.
• Do not leave kids or pets in vehicles.
• Be aware of hot pavement when walking dogs.
• Check on relatives and neighbors.

In anticipation of the heat, the City of Mountain View will open the following facilities to the public as air-conditioned cooling centers to find shelter from the heat:

• The Police Services Fire Administration Building lobby at 1000 Villa St. will be open to the public Monday through Friday, Sept. 30 through Oct. 4, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• The Mountain View Community Center lobby at 201 S. Rengstorff Ave. will be open to the public Monday, Sept. 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• The Mountain View Public Library at 585 Franklin St. will be open to the public Monday through Thursday, Sept. 30 through Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
