View as Webpage   What's New National Weather Service Red Flag Warning in Effect Through Saturday A Calenda on Cal Ave. this Saturday, October 19 Palo Alto Community Survey Closes Monday Be an Eco-Hero and Save the Planet One Home at a Time- Switch to a Heat Pump Water Heater Be Ready for the Next Big Earthquake Last Day to Register to Vote is Monday, October 21 Citywide Updates National Weather Service Red Flag Warning in Effect The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Red Flag Warning for parts of the Bay Area, including Palo Alto, due to dry and windy conditions that pose a risk of wildfires spreading quickly. The Red Flag Warning is in effect Thursday, October 17 at 11 p.m. through Saturday, October 19 at 5 p.m. Isolated wind gusts to 65 mph in high terrain areas/ridgetops is anticipated. High winds could cause community impacts such as fallen trees and limbs, and power outages. Staff will continue to monitor conditions and share community updates as needed. A Calenda on Cal Ave. this Saturday, October 19 Neighbors Abroad and the City of Palo Alto have partnered with Lazos Oaxaqueños to bring a calenda to Palo Alto! Celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Sister City relationship between Palo Alto and Oaxaca, this Saturday, October 19, 5 – 6 p.m. Our friends from Oaxaca are bringing the festive tradition of Las Calendas to Palo Alto. Join the fun on Cal Ave., between El Camino Real and the Caltrain train station and take part in the rich cultural fabric of Oaxaca. Las calendas are colorful, celebratory public processions featuring dancing, paper mâché figures, music, and revelry: part street party and part parade. Connect with neighbors abroad and near to strengthen community. Annual Palo Alto Community Survey Closes Monday! The 2024 Palo Alto Community Survey deadline is Monday, October 21. This is one way of many that we gain insights from residents that helps the City Council and City staff understand community perspectives on current services and programs, as well as unmet needs and priorities. Council Members are elected at-large and serve staggering four-year terms. In addition, Ballot Measure D asks Palo Alto residents to repurpose a 0.33-acre strip of El Camino Park to provide a direct transit connection from El Camino Real to the transit center. Stanford Live & Stanford Athletics Stadium Concert Announcement: Stanford Live and Stanford Athletics released a joint announcement sharing details about hosting Coldplay in May 2025. Initial concert dates will be the only major concerts at Stanford Stadium in 2025 and considered a pilot as they explore a concert series annually. Santa Clara County’s Zoning Administrator will consider Stanford’s 2025 event license for the two-night music concert with firework displays next week at a hearing.
