Where to Dispose of Household Batteries
*Where to Dispose of Household Batteries*

Household batteries contain toxic materials and should never be placed in curbside collection carts or bins. If not properly disposed of, old batteries can pose a threat to the environment. Drop off your used household batteries for recycling at any of the following City facilities during open business hours: City Hall Municipal Service Counter, all Santa Clara libraries, Senior Center, and Community Recreation Center. Batteries accepted include alkaline button cell, AA, AAA, C, D, 9V and lithium-ion. For safety purposes, please tape the ends of the battery terminals before placing into the battery recycling receptables. For more information, contact the Department of Public Works at *Environment@SantaClaraCA.gov*.

*Thank You for Making Our Winter Coat Drive a Success*

Every year the City of Santa Clara’s Environmental Programs team partners with Recology South Bay to host a winter coat donation drive. This event is a great way to reuse and recycle gently used winter coats. More importantly, it’s a way to help other families within the community. Due to the generous donations from Santa Clara residents, this year we collected over 1,000 winter coats that will be distributed to families in need throughout Santa Clara County with the help of Sacred Heart Community Services. A big thank you to all who participated and shared their warmth with others this holiday season!
