Email from City Manager's Office Palo Alto community news, announcements, and events View as Webpage   What's New Storm Updates – Wind & Rain Continues Electrify Your Home & Help Save the Planet Climate Action Blog: Zero Waste Living for Love Weekly City Manager Updates: February 10 Citywide Updates Storm Updates - Wind & Rain Continue The National Weather Service Flood Watch remains in effect through Saturday evening, a Wind Advisory is in effect with possible wind gusts as high as 47 mph, and a chance of isolated thunderstorms through 4 a.m. Friday. The heavy rains overnight caused high creek levels throughout but within San Francisquito Creek capacity. As of this morning, rain gauge on Trappers Fire Road (Gate 4) in Foothills Nature Preserve received 3.04-inches of rain within the last 24-hours. 4.21-inches was recorded at Los Trancos stream gauge in the same time frame. At the peak, the flow rate at the USGS stream gauge was approximately 2,370 CFS at 6 a.m. and has been trending down since. This storm brought us to the annual precipitation for Palo Alto, which is between 14 to 16 of rain a year. Flood risk is low in Palo Alto. Children’s Library Closed for Renovations Starting February 16: Children's Library will be closed from Sunday, February 16 through the end of May for renovations including new carpeting and painting plus installation of an Automated Materials Handling system to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience. Throughout the closure, Children’s Library storytimes will move to Rinconada Library and programs will continue at other branches. All other libraries will remain open during their regular hours.
