Swearing In CC Mtg 1_14_25

Two new members of the Mountain View City Council – Chris Clark and John McAlister - were sworn in, along with two returning members, Emily Ann Ramos and Pat Showalter, at the Council’s first meeting of the new year on Tuesday, Jan. 14. Margaret Abe-Koga and Lisa Matichak, who termed out of office, were thanked for their eight years of service on the Council. Abe-Koga is now serving as the Santa Clara County District 5 Supervisor.

At Tuesday’s meeting, the Council also elected Ellen Kamei as Mayor and Emily Ann Ramos as Vice Mayor.  A third generation Mountain View resident, Mayor Kamei was elected to the Council in November 2018 and re-elected to her second term in November 2022. She previously served as Mayor in 2021 and Vice Mayor in 2020. Vice Mayor Ramos was appointed to the Council in January 2023 and elected to the Council in November 2024.

Both Councilmembers Clark and McAlister previously served on the Council, having first been elected in 2012 and re-elected in 2016. Clark served as mayor in 2014, and McAlister served as mayor in 2015. Showalter, who passed the gavel to Mayor Kamei, served as mayor in 2024 and was re-elected to the Council in November 2024.
