Summer Reading has just begun! Sign up [ https://mountainview.beanstack.com/reader365 ] everyone in your family to read, learn and earn rewards throughout the summer. All ages from babies to adults are welcome to participate.

Launch your summer festivities by joining us at a special event this month. All events are generously sponsored by the Friends of the Mountain View Library.


* Saturday, June 1 [ https://mountainview.libcal.com/event/11962782 ]: Summer Reading will kick off with an all-ages extravaganza in Pioneer Park. Enjoy lawn games, treats and music featuring guest artists Cascada de Flores and Cumbia Paradiso.

Andre will lead families on a journey of musical discovery blending African and Native American Blues, French melodies, and Afro-Caribbean beats.

Career Success Allowance Program





COHS - Graduation




We are excited to announce that this summer, the Library will launch the Career Success Allowance Program to support active students in the Career Online High School [ https://library.mountainview.gov/learn/career-skill-building/earn-your-high-school-diploma ] program.

COHS is a free service available through the Library that provides participants with the opportunity to earn an accredited high school diploma and credentialed career certificate [ https://ca.careeronlinehs.org/career-certificates/ ] at the same time. To be eligible for CSAP, prospective students must be a Mountain View resident and apply for and actively progress through the COHS program. Students who remain active may receive up to $12,960 throughout the 18-month-long program.

Funding for CSAP was approved by City Council as part of their workforce development initiatives, which provides career and skill-building resources for job seekers. New Hiking Backpacks

Going on a hiking trip this summer? Borrow a hiking backpack from the Library! Our new backpacks include trekking poles, binoculars, ponchos, flashlights, pocket microscopes, field guides and more.

Star Wars string art





Adults and teens celebrated Star Wars Day on May 4 by making a themed string art craft.

Attendees discovered the beauty of Chinese calligraphy at a workshop presented by professional art instructor, Jojo Liu.

Retro Gaming





Gaming enthusiasts learned about the history and evolution of video game art and science, then played games on a range of classic video game consoles in a program presented by The Retro Roadshow.

Deer Hollow Farm





Children enjoyed a special storytime filled with farm-related books, songs and rhymes at Deer Hollow Farm, then met some of the farm animals up close including a rabbit and baby goat.

Chinese brush painting workshop

Participants learned simple techniques for painting flowers and small animals in a Chinese brush painting workshop presented by professional art instructor, Pauline Tsui.
