Author Talk [ https://libraryc.org/sunnyvalelibrary/106288 ]
ONLINE: Secrets and Second Chances with Liz Moore
*Wednesday, Jan. 28, 4 to 5 p.m.*
We are thrilled to welcome Liz Moore to discuss her latest work, "The God of the Woods" [ https://sunnyvale.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S173C1988650 ], an instant New York Times bestseller and one of NPR’s 2024 “Books We Love” highlights. Early morning, August 1975: a camp counselor discovers Barbara Van Laar has gone missing. Barbara is the daughter of the family that owns the summer camp and employs most of the region’s residents. And this isn’t the first time a Van Laar child has disappeared. As a panicked search begins, a thrilling drama unfolds.
Register and ask questions of the author [ https://libraryc.org/sunnyvalelibrary/106288 ].

Bridge [ https://sunnyvale.libcal.com/event/15484660 ]
IN-PERSON: Silicon Valley Reads - Starring the Bay Bridge
*Wednesday, Jan. 28, 6 to 7:30 p.m.*
The San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge is six months older, four times as long, and twice as busy as the Golden Gate Bridge. Why then has it seemingly been featured in far fewer films? Watch the Bay Bridge reclaim its starring role in scenes from over three dozen movies — some familiar, many much more obscure — including "Shadow of the Thin Man" (1941), "Experiment in Terror" (1961), "George of the Jungle" (1997) — and, of course, everyone’s favorite directional mistake: "The Graduate" (1967).
The program will take place in the Library Program Room. Registration is not required.

Seals [ https://sunnyvale.libcal.com/event/15859738 ]
ONLINE: History of Hockey's Golden Seals
*Thursday, Jan. 29, 6 to 7 p.m.*
Did you know that there was an NHL team in the Bay Area before the Sharks? As the Sharks celebrate their 35th season, take a step back to the past and join us for a talk with author and hockey historian, Steve Currier, about the colorful history of California’s original NHL team, the Golden Seals.
Steve Currier is the author of "The California Golden Seals: a Tale of White Skates and Red Ink, and One of the NHL’s Most Outlandish Teams [ https://sunnyvale.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S173C1788022 ]" and the keeper of the unofficial all-things Golden Seals website, GoldenSealsHockey.com.

National Seed Swap [ https://sunnyvale.libcal.com/event/15290778 ]
IN-PERSON: National Seed Swap Day: Winter Seed Swap
*Saturday, Jan. 31, Noon to 2 p.m.*
It's National Seed Swap Day! Celebrate the occasion by joining the Master Gardeners for a Saturday Swap at the Sunnyvale Public Library. A Seed Swap is where gardeners come together to trade seeds from their best plants, bringing their own seeds to share and taking home the seeds that others have to offer. It is a great opportunity for people to share their favorite varieties of seeds, as well as try out new ones, and share ideas, tips and tricks that go along with gardening in the local area.
Master Gardeners will be available to answer your seed saving questions. Bring saved seeds and leftover packets to swap (not required for participation).
This talk will take place in the Library Program Room. Registration [ https://sunnyvale.libcal.com/event/15290778 ] is recommended. Walk-ins are welcome.
Thank you to the UC Master Gardeners of Santa Clara County [ https://mgsantaclara.ucanr.edu/ ] for bringing us this talk.
