*Temporary Water Shutoff for 18 Homes in Impacted Area 
*In preparation for a “super chlorination” of the pipeline serving the Drucilla Drive/Carla Court area (Drucilla Drive between Leona Lane and Montalto Drive and all of Carla Court), there will be an approximate 6-hour water shutoff Wednesday, May 6, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

The water shutoff allows West Valley Construction Co., the City’s contractor for this project, to establish temporary water lines so that each of these homes has access to water during a “super chlorination” process of the pipeline. The City of Mountain View will turn off the water for 18 homes on Drucilla Drive and Carla Court. City crews will go door-to-door to notify affected households in advance of this brief water shutoff.

This “super chlorination” process is intended to address the presence of low levels of coliform bacteria, which appear to be concentrated in the water line serving homes on Drucilla Drive and Carla Court.

In coordination with the State Water Resources Control Board, the City is exploring the possibility of lifting the “Boil Water” notice for homes that are "not "on Drucilla Drive and Carla Court.

*Tonight, the “Boil Water” notice remains in effect for all 67 affected homes located just north of Cuesta Park.

The residents in the affected area (see map below) should not use their tap water for drinking and cooking unless it has been boiled for at least 1 minute first.

*About the Water Main Incident
* The water main breach involved a private contractor that was hired by the City. The Friday, April 24, incident concerned a contamination breach with some cement slurry mix coming into contact with a live water main near the intersection of Bonita Avenue and Cuesta Drive.
