City of Mountain View Presents Inaugural State of the City

"“Building the Mountain View of Tomorrow” to take center stage at 2025 event"

*"Mountain View, Calif."*" — "The City of Mountain View will host its first State of the City on Wednesday, May 21, 5:30-7 p.m., in Redwood Hall at the Mountain View Community Center, 201 S. Rengstorff Ave. The free civic event is open to the public. The State of the City will also be streamed live on the City’s YouTube channel, YouTube.com/MountainViewGov [ http://www.YouTube.com/MountainViewGov ].

With a theme of “Building the Mountain View of Tomorrow,” the 2025 event will showcase recent City accomplishments and initiatives that advance the City’s strategic priorities. Mayor Ellen Kamei and City Manager Kimbra McCarthy will also share updates on the City’s financial outlook; efforts to advance housing, sustainability, and active transportation; and actions that support Mountain View being a “Community for All.”

“I am excited to celebrate our inaugural State of the City to showcase how we are working together to build a stronger and inclusive community. The event is an opportunity to hear about the great work we have accomplished and the projects underway that are laying the groundwork for the Mountain View of tomorrow,” said Mayor Ellen Kamei. “There is so much that our City team is doing to support Mountain View residents and businesses, especially during this time.”    

This inaugural State of the City evolved from a different event, called the City Annual Update, that was co-hosted with the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce. The State of the City is being held as a special meeting, which is free and open to the public.

Individuals attending in person should reserve their free ticket [ https://www.mountainview.gov/stateofthecity ]. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for a reception, featuring City resource tables and a dinner buffet. The formal program gets underway at 6:15 p.m. and concludes by 7 p.m.

Interpretation services in Spanish and Chinese will be provided for those attending in person. Child care for children over 7 years old will also be available.
