Monday, June 23, 7 to 8 p.m.

Searching for new ways to make yourself more energy efficient? Look no further! Join us, and environmental non-profit Acterra, for another installment of "Electrify Your Life", as we focus on how to best harness the power of solar energy for your home and transportation needs. Whether you're curious about clean energy, considering installing solar panels, or looking to charge your EV with sustainable power, this event is for you! 

 

Acterra is a San Francisco Bay Area 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Palo Alto that brings people together to create local solutions for a healthy planet. In the face of daunting environmental challenges, their science-based approach instills hope while building community.

 

This program is part of our "Electrify Your Life" speaker series, supported by the Silicon Valley Clean Energy Decarbonization Grant.

*Tuesday, June 24, noon to 1 p.m.*

Level Up your books with a book repair clinic!

 

Book repair and preservation is not just for historical books but for the beloved books in your home library. Our tech services staff will work to increase the life of the books from your home library by providing simple repairs. Maximum 3 books per household.

 

This event will take place in the Library Program Room. Repairs will be first come, first served. Not all damage may be repairable.

IN-PERSON: Personal Emergency Preparedness

*Wednesday, June 25, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.*

Earthquakes, fires, floods, pandemics, power outages, chemical spills. These are just some of the disasters than can strike our area without warning. After a disaster strikes, professional emergency services may not be available to help you for several days. Are you fully prepared to take care of yourself and your family if the need arises?

 

Our Personal Emergency Preparedness class can help you prepare for disasters. It will teach you about the various disasters you might face, what preparations you can make for them and how to prioritize.

 

This class is presented by Sunnyvale Emergency Response Volunteers (SERV), the volunteer arm of the Sunnyvale Office of Emergency Services.

IN-PERSON: EasyTech Seniors: Intro to Zoom

*Saturday, June 28, 2 to 3 p.m.*

Learn new skills in a relaxed and interactive group setting! EasyTech Seniors is led by Malhar D., a local high school student with a passion for helping senior citizens embrace technology to enrich their daily lives.

 

In our first class, Malhar will give a hands-on demonstration on the basics of Zoom, from creating a Zoom account to attending and hosting meetings. There will also be time for other tech questions you may have and to request topics for our next class.

 

Please bring your own mobile device or laptop, or you can follow the demonstration on our projector screen.

 

This program is for adults and will take place in the Library Program Room. Registration is not required.

IN-PERSON: Ensamble Folclórico Colibrí Mexican Dance Performance

*Saturday, June 28, 4 to 4:45 p.m.*

Celebrate Pride Month with a special performance by Ensamble Folclórico Colibrí (EFC)! EFC is a Mexican folklore dance group that promotes pride in LGBTQ Latinx identity through the art of Mexican Folklórico dance. They preserve costumes and tradition through cultural and educational projects, as well as staged performances.

 

This program is for all ages. It will take place on the Library Plaza. Registration is not required.
