Lot 12 Parking Lot to Close in January





Lot 12 Parking Map Update




To prepare for the construction of the new affordable housing project at City-owned Lot 12, the parking lot will permanently close to public use in January. Lot 12 is located across from City Hall and the Mountain View Public Library.

Visitors are encouraged to use nearby parking garages and surface lots (see the map for alternative parking locations). The City of Mountain View appreciates the community’s patience and support as this important project moves forward.

Construction is anticipated to begin in January/February 2026 and take approximately two years to complete. Once finished, the project will deliver much-needed affordable homes and bring new energy, residents, and foot traffic to Downtown Mountain View. This effort reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to expanding housing opportunities and fostering a vibrant, inclusive downtown.

The City of Mountain View’s Housing Department is revamping its website to make it easier for the public to find the information they need about programs, services, and initiatives related to affordable housing, rent stabilization, and other housing-related issues.

A short survey is underway to gather public feedback about MountainView.gov/Housing [ http://www.MountainView.gov/Housing ], including what works well on the current site and what could be improved.

Shopping local keeps dollars in our community, supports local jobs, and helps ensure that the shops and restaurants we love continue to thrive. This year, consider giving the gift of Mountain View—whether it’s a special item from a favorite retailer, a gift card to a local restaurant, or a service from a neighborhood salon, fitness studio, or entertainment spot.

Holiday Bazaar 2024




The Holiday Bazaar returns to the Mountain View Senior Center to get everyone in the holiday spirit. This event is a handmade craft fair showcasing over 40 vendors selling a variety of items from jewelry, knitting, ceramics, wood carvings and more. Doors open at 10 a.m. for a day full of shopping, local entertainment, kids crafts, and a raffle.

Annual Community Tree Lighting Celebration

The annual Community Tree Lighting Celebration returns in December! The free event will feature entertainment, photos with Santa, Mrs. Claus' Storytime on the Plaza, Holidays Around the World, train rides, arts and crafts, multiple photo stops and refreshments

**Civic Center Plaza, 500 Castro St.*

Over the next few weeks, Downtown Mountain View will begin its transformation into a Winter Wonderland with additional decorations and new lighted displays along the 100 -  500 blocks of Castro Street.






Birdwatching and Ukelele Kits Available at Mountain View Pubic Library





Cuesta Park Birdwatching





The Mountain View Public Library now offers birdwatching backpacks and ukelele kits that customers can borrow from the Customer Service desk. The birdwatching backpack contains two pairs of binoculars, a California bird field guide, and an informational card. The ukulele kit includes a ukulele, tuner, and beginner’s book.

Letters to Santa

The City of Mountain View is pleased to announce the return of the annual Letters to Santa program.

This free community tradition invites Mountain View children to write and send letters to Santa Claus by dropping off letters at the Mountain View Community Center, located at 201 S. Rengstorff Ave., or mailing them to P.O. Box 7540, Mountain View, CA 94039.

*All letters received or postmarked by* *Dec. 1* with a return address will receive a personalized reply from Santa.
