Lakewood Branch Library and Learning Center

Sunnyvale's newest community gathering place is almost here! The *Lakewood Branch Library and Learning Center*, located at 650 Lakechime Drive, is set to open this August. True to Sunnyvale's commitment to the arts, the library features original public art both inside and out. The exterior art installation, "Roots of Knowledge" by Ride Art Studio, features three large sculptures of inkwells with quills in them. And a mural of brass leaves embedded in the cement. Each bears a word representing nearly 30 languages.

*Art Opening & Community Art Project on* *Aug. 29, 1 to 2 p.m.*

Look up and let the sunshine in!  This month's featured Sun Flair sculpture is "California Poppies", a radiant, vibrantly painted sun by Sunnyvale artist Christine Oliver. Bursting with the warm orange tones of California's beloved state flower set against a brilliant sky blue, the piece is a joyful reminder of the natural beauty found throughout our city, from the golden California Poppies to the vivid Blue Lupines. "California Poppies" is on display at Raynor Park and it's just one of 26 sun sculptures waiting to be discovered at a park near you!
