ONLINE: Asian Art Museum: Goddesses in Asian Art

*Monday, Mar. 9, 7 to 8 p.m.*

Goddesses are central figures in many Asian religions: from fertile earth maidens to nurturing mothers, wrathful avengers and wise advisors, female deities play important roles in the lives of their supplicants and followers. This program explores the many depictions of goddesses throughout Asia, using examples drawn from the Asian Art Museum’s permanent collection.

 

This one-hour online lecture by Asian Art Museum community speaker docent Mary Mead is followed by a Q&A.

Learn new skills in a relaxed and interactive group setting! EasyTech Seniors is led by Malhar D., a local high school student with a passion for helping senior citizens embrace technology to enrich their lives.

 

In this month's class, Malhar will give a hands-on demonstration on the basics of Zoom, from creating a free Zoom account to attending and hosting meetings. There will also be time for other tech questions you may have and to request topics for our next class.

 

For the best experience we recommend bringing your own mobile device or laptop, but you can also follow the demonstration on the screen and take notes.

Earthquakes, fires, floods, pandemics, power outages, chemical spills. These are just some of the disasters than can strike our area without warning. After a disaster strikes, professional emergency services may not be available to help you for several days. Are you fully prepared to take care of yourself and your family if the need arises?

 

Our Personal Emergency Preparedness class can help you prepare for disasters. It will teach you about the various disasters you might face, what preparations you can make for them and how to prioritize.

 

This class is presented by Sunnyvale Emergency Response Volunteers (SERV), the volunteer arm of the Sunnyvale Office of Emergency Services.

 

This program is for adults and will take place in the Library Program Room. This program takes place before the Library opens. Meet on the Library Plaza at 10:30 a.m. to be admitted to the program. Ple
