Keep Water Clean with Organic Weed Controls
Birds collect on the bay in Alviso

We’ve enjoyed impressive rains this winter; weeds are bound to follow. Water & Sewer Utilities urges you to keep our watersheds [ https://www.valleywater.org/learning-center/watersheds-santa-clara-valley ] clean for our community and local wildlife by using natural and organic weed controls in your garden:

* Pull emerging weeds early, before they flower, seed and spread.
* Sheet mulch [ https://www.valleywater.org/accordion/gardening-tips ] to smother weeds.
* Re-mulch garden beds to reduce weed sprouts.
* Use vinegar, salt and soap mixes to kill weeds without synthetic chemicals.

Why go organic? All water flowing through our gutters ends up in our creeks and the San Francisco Bay, including rain, runoff from landscaping, and anything else.

Everything needs clean water to survive. Choosing organic gardening practices reduces the harmful chemical runoff from conventional landscape products. Keep Santa Clara healthy: protect our water.
