Save the Date for State of the City in May
SOTC 26 Graphic
Mountain View Mayor Emily Ann Ramos will give a State of the City address on *Tuesday, May 19*, at the Mountain View Community Center’s Redwood Hall, 201 S. Rengstorff Ave. With the theme, “Building the Mountain View of Tomorrow Together,” this year’s program will highlight recent City of Mountain View accomplishments and updates on the City’s financial outlook, advances in affordable housing and active transportation, and long-term strategies to improve the quality of life.
Individuals attending in person should reserve their free ticket [ https://sotc2026.online-rsvp.com/ ]. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. with a reception, featuring a dinner buffet. Attendees can also visit City resource tables and learn about opportunities to volunteer, from helping children read to serving on City boards, commissions, and committees. The formal program gets underway at 6:15 p.m. and concludes by 7:00 p.m.
Interpretation services in Spanish and Mandarin will be provided to in-person attendees. Child care for children, ages 5 and older, will be available during the event.

Street Resurfacing Project in April
Slurry Seal 3
The City of Mountain View will make improvements to numerous streets in mid-April as part of the City’s SB-1 Street Resurfacing Project.
To improve the appearance and condition of the streets, a “slurry seal” will be applied to the roadways. A slurry seal is made up of asphalt and finely crushed rock, which helps protect streets from damage caused by traffic and weather.
Pending weather conditions or other circumstances, the street improvement project will take place on Wednesday, April 15, through Friday, April 17.
Be aware that the roads being improved will be affected while the slurry sealing work is underway. “No Parking” signs will be posted, and traffic will have limited flow and closures from 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on the day of application.
For a list of streets scheduled to receive the pavement maintenance treatment, visit the SB-1 Street Project section on the Traffic and Construction Alerts webpage [ https://www.mountainview.gov/our-city/departments/public-works/construction/traffic-and-construction-updates?fbclid=IwY2xjawRCBrxleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFTSkl5Q3JWMW0wM2dtYVlQc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHpLVABgF5L3hNYugJugl5u7hZAIa9DK79Q9jQtSl_QXGY3yMxXs6Fv4aUzcf_aem_KbS7JIGiNuRwzLIx3bFteA ].
New Public Art Across Mountain View
Anne Sophie Gaudet Bollard Art
The community is invited to enjoy new art as installations continue to pop up throughout the City.
Artist Fernanda Martinez recently completed a vibrant mural on the City maintenance building near the tennis courts and Magical Bridge Playground at Rengstorff Park. The mural adds a welcoming visual element to one of the park’s most active areas and enhances the experience for visitors enjoying the playground and surrounding amenities.
Fresh color and creativity is enfusing Downtown Mountain View through the Bollard Beautification project along Castro Street. Local and regional artists are transforming the spherical bollards located along the 100–300 blocks of Castro Street into vibrant murals inspired by nature, community, and the Bay Area landscape.
Selected artists include Anne-Sophie Gaudet [ https://www.annesophiegaudet.com/ ], Zoe Caron [ https://caronart.org/ ], Katherine Liu [ https://katherineliu.me/ ], Human Shaped Animals [ https://www.humanshapedanimal.com/?utm_source=ig&utm_medium=social&utm_content=link_in_bio&fbclid=PAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQMMjU2MjgxMDQwNTU4AAGnQ7q10aVG95RlS2KDlOFk6EzVcr7CkY1wXzPh_T3bybBhKqDugjEGFnrC-rs_aem_CUhgpwaWQAjAkGgCyPBoLw ], and John Patrick Thomas [ https://johnpatrickthomas.com/ ]. Installations began in late March and will continue on a staggered schedule throughout April, with artists Human Shaped Animals and John Patrick Thomas scheduled to begin painting on April 20. Community members are encouraged to stop by Downtown Mountain View to see the artists in action as the murals come to life.
A series of public art panels created by artist John Patrick Thomas were also installed at the historic Mountain View Train Depot on March 30. Commissioned by Arts Mountain View through a VTA grant, the artwork celebrates Mountain View’s history and cultural diversity. A ribbon-cutting ceremony at the transit hub is planned for the future. Look for details in the coming weeks.
Visit Public Art in Mountain View [ https://econdev.mountainview.gov/public-art ] to find out more about these installations and the City's Pubic Art Strategy.
