Santa Clara Art & Wine Festival

Join us at the 43rd Annual Santa Clara Art & Wine Festival this month! This family event features over 150 artists and craft vendors, a Kids Kingdom, delicious food, live entertainment on two stages, premium wines and micro-brewed beer. Admission is free!

Saturday, Sept. 13, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. | Sunday, Sept. 14, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

2025 State of the City

Santa Clara State of the City - Wednesday, Sept. 24 - Presented by Mayor Lisa Gillmor

The 2025 State of the City, presented by Mayor Lisa M. Gillmor, is scheduled for *Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. *at the Mission City Center for Performing Arts (located at Wilcox High School) at 3250 Monroe St.

The event will include the State of the City address from Mayor Lisa M. Gillmor, local community performances and the presentation of the Citywide and Council District Community Awards. Don't forget to visit our City resource booths in the lobby area from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.

The Santa Clara City Library is an NEA Big Read [ https://artsmidwest.org/about/updates/announcing-the-2025-26-nea-big-read-grantees/ ] grantee for 2025-2026, and we're excited to kick off our programming with a visit from the author of our Big Read title, "Bite by Bite [ https://sclibrary.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S146C2483437 ]". Poet and essayist Aimee Nezhukumatathil will be at *Central Park Library on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m.* Join us for this special author talk and book signing event! The first 50 attendees will also receive a free hardcover copy of the book. Extra Garbage Bag Tags Available Year-Round

Did you know the City of Santa Clara has an Extra Garbage Bag Tag Program? It’s a convenient way to dispose of occasional trash above the limit allowed through your weekly garbage service! For $7.91 each, these tags allow you to set out one additional 32-gallon bag (up to 30 pounds) on your regular garbage collection day.

Tags never expire and can be used anytime throughout the year. There is no limit to the number of tagged bags you can place at the curb.

Tags are available during regular business hours at:

Looking for youth programs? The 2025/26 Resident Youth Card Membership is available for purchase online and in person at the Youth & Teen Center. Current 2024/2025 Resident Youth Card holders will be given a grace period to use their membership for the beginning of the 2025/26 school year.

Sign up for Kids Rock on Sept. 26 from 6 – 8:30 p.m., a special event for K-5th grade kids that includes music, bounce house, arts and crafts, recreation games and pizza! Athletic shoes, good attitudes, and pre-registration is required.

Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Event

Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Event

Safely dispose of household hazardous waste (HHW) at our free drop-off event on Saturday, Sept. 20, in Santa Clara. This event is the perfect opportunity to clear out items such as old paint, chemical cleaners, household batteries, and lithium-ion battery devices or battery-embedded products like old phones, charging packs, power tools, smart devices, toys, and more. Hazardous materials should never be placed in curbside collection carts, as they can pose risks to people, property, and the environment.

California Coastal Cleanup Day

California Coastal Cleanup

On California Coastal Cleanup Day, volunteers across California will work together to make a difference in their communities. Be part of the statewide effort to protect our oceans, watersheds, and wildlife from trash and debris on Saturday, Sept. 20, 9 a.m.–12 p.m.

Last year our City of Santa Clara volunteers collected over 200 pounds of trash in just three hours, helping to keep our waterways clean and healthy. This year, the City of Santa Clara will once again host a local cleanup site, and we invite you to join us!  If you have questions, contact Environmental Programs at Environment@SantaClaraCA.gov.

Bioblitz 2025: Parks for Pollinators

Parks for Pollinators - Bioblitz

Join Santa Clara Parks & Recreation and parks throughout the country in a fun challenge to see how many pollinator species can be documented on Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. With the iNaturalist app, you simply take a picture of a pollinator (bee, butterfly, bat, etc.) or plant, and the online community will help identify the species. You can participate by exploring the nature and wildlife in San Tomas Aquino Trailhead and Everett N. “Eddie” Souza Park & Garden.

The City of Santa Clara is not doing water inspections or visits related to recent doorknob hangers or fliers that some residents have received. Water & Sewer Utilities uses the door hangers pictured with the City logo plus department telephone number and website listed.

For any official business, City staff:

* Use clearly marked vehicles

Be cautious responding to unsolicited notices. All official City notices include:

* Official logos/branding

Improved Power Outage Alerts for Santa Clara Residents

Silicon Valley Power is excited to announce the upcoming launch of its new Outage Alert System. This new system will improve how we keep the community informed during power outages with real-time alerts via text messaging.

Residents will also have access to a mobile-friendly outage map, self-service reporting tools, and an improved interactive voice response system. All utility accounts with a valid mobile number on file will be automatically enrolled to receive text message alerts.

We encourage all customers to make sure their contact information is up to date to receive timely updates. Text messages from the City and Silicon Valley Power are trusted and secure.

Customers can update their contact information by calling 408-615-2300 or emailing utilitybilling@santaclaraca.gov.
