Fremont Celebrates Disability Employment Awareness Month

Happy Disability Employment Awareness Month! We’re honored to display the Disability Employment Awareness Month flag outside City Hall throughout October. The Fremont City Council adopted a ceremonial flag policy to commemorate special observances. The policy sets clear criteria for selecting ceremonial flags and establishes a yearly rotation of observances. For more information and to view the flag raising schedule, please *view our ceremonial flags webpage* [ https://www.fremont.gov/government/mayor-city-council/ceremonial-flags?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ].

Campaign Signs [ https://city.fremont.gov/campaignsigns?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ]
Requirements for Displaying Political Campaign Signs

As election season gets underway, political campaign signs are a common sight throughout the Bay Area, including Fremont. Campaign signs are an important form of free speech and are subject to specific regulations.

In Fremont, campaign signs are not permitted on public property but may be displayed on private property, subject to certain requirements and limitations. The City will remove illegal campaign signs or initiate a code enforcement case when violations are identified, depending on the location.

For the upcoming November 3 election, all campaign signs must be removed by November 17, as the City’s sign ordinance requires campaign signs to be removed within 15 days following an election. Residents who see an illegal campaign sign can report it to Code Enforcement by *email <code_enf@fremont.gov>*, by calling 510-494-4430, or through the City’s *online reporting form [ https://www.fremont.gov/residents/report-issues?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ]*.

If you choose to display a campaign sign, please remember to follow the City’s requirements. For more information on campaign sign regulations in Fremont, visit the City’s *Political Campaign Signs webpage [ https://www.fremont.gov/government/departments/code-enforcement/political-campaign-signs?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ]*.

Thank you for complying with City regulations.

Four Simple Ways to Practice Cybersecurity Every Day

*Four Simple Ways to Practice Cybersecurity Every Day*

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, but the City of Fremont reminds the community that online safety matters every day. Scammers and cybercriminals often succeed by creating urgency, impersonating trusted organizations, stealing passwords, or taking advantage of devices that have not been updated.

Residents, employees, and community members can reduce their risk by practicing four practical habits recommended by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA): recognize and report phishing, use strong and unique passwords, turn on multifactor authentication (MFA), and keep software updated.

Coastal Cleanup Recap
Successful Coastal Cleanup Day Thanks to Volunteers

Coastal Cleanup Day in Fremont was a success again this year, thanks to the dedication of volunteers who came together to help protect our local environment and waterways.

On September 19, volunteers across Fremont’s designated cleanup sites worked together to restore approximately 136 acres. In total, 157 volunteers contributed to the effort, collecting 1,460 pounds of trash, 200 pounds of recyclable materials, and 80 pounds of compostable materials.

Along the way, volunteers uncovered a few unexpected items too! This year’s unusual finds included a crabbing net, decoy bird, water valve, tripod, and even a full socket wrench set.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and energy! Coastal Cleanup Day is a shining example of what can be accomplished when our community works together to care for the environment. We appreciate all who participated and look forward to another successful cleanup next year!
