Valley Water West Pipeline Reopening

On Oct. 31, Valley Water temporarily shut down its West Pipeline serving southern Santa Clara. Staff then increased the use of wells and Serra Tanks (near Stevens Creek Boulevard and Lawrence Expressway).

Valley Water’s work is nearing completion. We expect to resume water service from Valley Water’s Rinconada Treatment Plant via the West Pipeline at the end of April. The West Pipeline will undergo rigorous disinfection and testing before reopening; the City will also test and closely monitor water once it comes back online. Since water will once again be coming from Rinconada, it is normal to observe slight changes compared to the groundwater delivered to that area since the fall.

Call Water & Sewer Utilities at 408-615-2000 with questions or for more information.

SVP Engages with CAISO on Regional Reliability and Load Growth

City staff at CAISO

Silicon Valley Power is actively engaging with regional partners to support grid reliability and future growth.

After identifying concerns within CAISO’s 2025–2026 Reliability Assessment models, Acting Chief Operating Officer Chris Karwick and Division Manager Albert Saenz met with CAISO’s Transmission Infrastructure Planning team to review key issues and discuss projected load growth in the South Bay.

SVP also explored optimization opportunities for the NRS-SJB Project that could help minimize future system upgrades for both PG&E and SVP, supporting reliability while managing costs for our community.
