Comic Workshop with Author Wendy Xu

Join Wendy Xu, author and illustrator of "The Infinity Particle [ https://sunnyvale.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S173C1964808 ]", for a workshop about what makes a comic. Wendy will discuss the different parts of a comic and lead attendees in designing their own four panel comic. "The Infinity Particle" was selected as a teen graphic novel for Silicon Valley Reads.

 

This program is for teens and adults, ages 13 and up.

Poetry in the Age of AI

Burlingame-Hillsborough Youth Poet Laureate Sierra Elman invites teens to a workshop to discuss, explore and experiment with how AI affects poetry and its future.

Participants will also have an opportunity to write poetry and share their work. No experience with poetry or AI is needed. Please bring a laptop and your creativity!

 

 A limited number of Chromebooks can be provided by the library if needed on a first come first serve basis.

This program is for grades 6 to 12. 

 

Registration is required, but walk-ins are welcome if space is available. 

 

About the Speaker:

Sierra Elman is an award-winning writer and poet and the Youth Poet Laureate of Burlingame-Hillsborough [ https://www.burlingame.org/1030/Youth-Poet-Laureate ]. She has a special interest in the intersection of creativity and technology. Sierra's research study on AI and poetry [ https://medium.com/@sierraelman/the-future-of-poetry-26dabfc2f50a ] was featured on Medium’s List of Most Meaningful Stories in 2024 [ https://blog.medium.com/it-happened-on-medium-in-2024-6575a0e85406 ].
