Come discuss George Takei's "They Called Us Enemy". In this graphic memoir, Takei describes his childhood experience of being incarcerated with his family in a prison camp during World War II. "They Called Us Enemy" is a "New York Times" bestseller and winner of numerous awards.

 

Read the book in advance of the discussion. Then come and share what you noticed, what you felt and, if relevant, your relationship to the history the memoir describes.

Starting Monday, April 6, copies of the book will be available at the Children's Information Desk while supplies last. You must be registered for the discussion to claim a book. You can also place a hold on the print graphic novel or read the eBook on Libby (always available). The book is also available in a Spanish edition.

 

This discussion is for teens and will take place in the Library Program Room.

On Sunday there will be a livestreamed author talk with George Takei at 2 p.m. in the Library Program Room.

 

* Note: registration is only required to receive a copy of the book. Doors will close when the room is full.
