Water sample testing continues for 21 homes, along Drucilla Drive and Carla Court, that remain under boil water restrictions

*Water sample testing continues for the water lines that serve the 21 homes in the Drucilla Drive/Carla Court area. These 21 homes remain under a “Boil Water” notice [ https://www.mountainview.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/13196/639134043921130000 ].

The “super chlorination” period concluded late Thursday night with pipe flushing. Samples from the disinfected pipe have been taken for lab analysis. Due to these latest developments, there will be minimal construction activity over the weekend.

On Monday, May 11, residents in the affected area should expect the construction work to resume as the City of Mountain View continues to work to restore full water services in coordination with the State Water Resources Control Board.

The City will keep affected residents updated on the schedule as more information is available.

*Update on Emergency Water Supplies and Temporary Lodging Program
*Once residents, who live north of Cuesta Park, have performed their household flush and no longer need the bottled water delivery, they should call Water World at 408-641-5440 to cancel the service before placing all empty bottles out to for pickup. If residents place bottles out without canceling, Water World will continue to exchange empty for new bottles until May 13th.

For *the 46 homes* that had their *boil water restrictions lifted*, Water World will perform the *final pickup for all bottles* on *Wednesday, May 13*.

For the *remaining 21 homes* under boil water restrictions, Water World is scheduled to perform the *final pickup for all bottles* on *one week after the Boil Water order is lifted*.

The City does not anticipate that the Boil Water order will be lifted earlier than Wednesday, May 13. As a result, the City’s Temporary Lodging Program [ https://www.mountainview.gov/what-s-happening/city-newsroom/current-topics/cuesta-water-main/temporary-lodging ] will remain available to affected residents who live in the impacted area through Tuesday, May 12 (checkout on Wednesday, May 13).

* About the Water Main Incident
*On Wednesday, May 6, a “Boil Water” notice was lifted for 46 of the original 67 homes impacted by the Cuesta water main breach. Currently, 21 homes, located north of Cuesta Park, remain under boil water restrictions [ https://www.mountainview.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/13196/639134043921130000 ] until further notice.

The water main breach involved a private contractor that was hired by the City. The Friday, April 24, incident concerned a contamination breach with some cement slurry mix coming into contact with a live water main near the intersection of Bonita Avenue and Cuesta Drive.
