City Attorney Jennifer Logue Announces Departure to Serve as Superior Court Judge

"Logue has served as Mountain View’s City Attorney for over four years"

*"Mountain View, Calif."*" — "City Attorney Jennifer Logue announced she is stepping down next month after being appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom to serve as a judge on the Contra Costa County Superior Court. She has served as City Attorney since April 2022. Logue’s last day with the City has not yet been determined but is expected to occur in early July 2026.

“Jennifer has served the Mountain View community with compassion, integrity, and professionalism,” said Mayor Emily Ann Ramos. “As City Attorney, she has been a tremendous legal advisor and collaborative leader. We are thankful for Jennifer’s dedication to public service and know that she will excel in this well-deserved appointment to the bench.”

“Serving as Mountain View's City Attorney has been one of the greatest honors of my career,” said Logue. “This is an extraordinary community, and it has been a privilege to work alongside dedicated elected officials, City staff, and residents in service of the public. While I am excited for this next chapter, leaving Mountain View is truly bittersweet."

As the City Attorney, she represents and advises the Council, advisory bodies, and City departments in matters of law related to City business. Logue oversees a staff of six attorneys, two code enforcement officers, and three legal support staff. Under Logue's leadership, the City Attorney's Office has led or supported a number of significant City initiatives, including modernization of the City Charter, the Housing Element update, Shoreline Area Plan update, Nexus Fee Study, and adoption of the Google Master Plan, Tenant Relocation Assistance Ordinance, and the Gatekeeper Policy. The Office has also implemented internal process improvements that have enhanced efficiency and streamlined City contracting and other operational processes.

Logue is a seasoned attorney and litigator with more than 26 years of legal experience, including 18 years in local government. Prior to serving as Mountain View’s City Attorney, Logue served in multiple roles at the Oakland City Attorney’s Office, including as Supervising Attorney from 2019 to 2022, Senior Attorney from 2012 to 2019, and Deputy City Attorney from 2006 to 2010. Logue worked as an Associate at Leone, Alberts and Duus from 2010 to 2012. She served as a Staff Attorney at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit from 2001 to 2006. Logue worked as an Associate at Cohen & Cohen in Washington, D.C. from 1999 to 2000. Logue holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Whittier College and a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.

The City Council will soon begin the executive recruitment process for a new City Attorney. The City Attorney is one of three positions, including City Manager and City Clerk, which are appointed by the Council.
