City of Fremont Sharing Draft General Plan Amendment Information for Upcoming Planning Commission Meeting

This Thursday, November 13, the City's Planning Commission will consider proposed General Plan amendments to the Land Use and Open Space Element and the Conservation Element.

Recent changes to state law require the City to update its General Plan [ https://www.fremont.gov/government/departments/community-development/planning-building-permit-services/plans-maps-guidelines/general-plan ] as it relates to open space access, climate resiliency, and wildlife and habitat connectivity. These amendments will serve as an addendum to the existing Land Use and Open Space Element [ https://www.fremont.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/801/637750630860000000 ] and Conservation Element [ https://www.fremont.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/791/637750630830170000 ]. By referencing existing Citywide plans and policies that have been implemented since the 2011 adoption of the General Plan, the draft amendments demonstrate the City’s compliance with Senate Bill 1425 and Assembly Bill 1889.
