Going on vacation?

Pause your holds!

Did you know that you can pause your library holds without losing your place in line? This feature in your online account is great for if you're going out of town for a week or more and don't want to miss a hold you've been waiting for. You will keep moving to the front of the waiting list, but when it's your turn, our system will skip you and instead fulfill the next hold in the queue. After your trip, when you resume your hold, you'll be wherever you have moved up to while paused, even if that's first in line!

*To pause a hold:* Log in to your account in our online catalog [ https://sunnyvale.bibliocommons.com/ ] or SPL Mobile app. Under "My Borrowing," select "On Hold." You will see your list of holds. Each item will have a gray button that says "Pause hold." Hit that button to pause the hold.

*To resume a hold:* Log in to your account in our online catalog [ https://sunnyvale.bibliocommons.com/ ] or SPL Mobile app. Under "On Hold," select "Paused" or scroll to the bottom of your holds list to view paused holds. Each paused hold will have a gray button that says "Resume hold." Hit that button to resume the hold.

Besides vacations, we recommend pausing holds if you want to use them at a certain time. For example, if you want to use one of our Parks Passes [ https://sunnyvale.bibliocommons.com/v2/search?custom_edit=false&query=formatcode%3A(PASS%20)&searchType=bl&suppress=true&title=Museum%20%26%20Parks%20Passes ] on a certain weekend in August, you can place a hold now, pause it, and then resume the hold within three weeks of when you want to use it. Similarly, if you want to use our Karaoke Kit [ https://sunnyvale.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S173C1963145 ] or our Beanbag Toss Game Kit [ https://sunnyvale.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S173C1964165 ] for a birthday party, place a hold now, pause it, and resume it within three weeks of the party. (Items have a three-week loan period.)

What You are Looking for is in the Library by Michiko Aoyama [ https://sunnyvale.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S173C1971490 ]

"What You are Looking for is in the Library [ https://sunnyvale.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S173C1971490 ]", by Michiko Aoyama

This novel centers around a mysterious librarian who works at a Tokyo library. She has an uncanny ability to recommend just the right book to each visitor — not necessarily what they came for, but exactly what they need to move forward in life. The book is structured as a series of loosely connected storylines, each focusing on a different character whose life is subtly transformed by the librarian’s recommendation.

This is the perfect comfort read. A gentle reminder that growth often begins with a story and that sometimes, what you’re searching for might already be right in front of you.

Apricot jam [ https://www.davidlebovitz.com/apricot-jam/ ]

It's apricot season at Orchard Heritage Park! The historic orchard is a remnant of the fruit industry that was central to Sunnyvale's early economy. Each year, the orchard continues to sell fresh Blenheim apricots.

The Orchard Heritage Park is at 560 East Remington Drive. It shares a parking lot with the Heritage Park Museum, the Recreation Center and the Senior Center. Just follow the signs to the white barn. In addition to fresh apricots, you'll find jams, dried fruit, chocolate covered fruit and more. The harvest lasts only a few weeks, so make haste. By mid-July, the fresh apricots will be gone. The apricot store is open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Got extra apricots? Make your own Apricot Jam [ https://www.davidlebovitz.com/apricot-jam/ ]. This recipe by chef David Lebovitz [ https://sunnyvale.bibliocommons.com/v2/search?query=Lebovitz%2C%20David&searchType=author ] is on the tart side. Spread it on a slice of toast for a simple yet lovely breakfast.
