Is it Time to Wash Your Car? Help Protect Our Bay While You Do It!

Car Wash

Washing your car on the street might seem like a simple choice, but did you know it can harm our local creeks and the Bay?

The runoff water you see washing off your car and down the street is not clean and not safe for our waterways. It can contain soap, brake dust, grease and other pollutants. This dirty runoff flows downhill until it reaches a storm drain which flows to local creeks and the Bay.

Choose a better option — go to a commercial car wash. Commercial car washes have a separate drainage system so the water is collected and recycled. This helps keep pollutants out of the Bay and helps to conserve this valuable resource.

Water and wastewater community meeting

The Local Agency Formation Commission of Santa Clara County (LAFCO) is conducting a Countywide Water and Wastewater Service Review. The workshop is for communities in north Santa Clara County, including: Cupertino, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Milpitas, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Santa Clara and Sunnyvale.
