Click the button below or here for the full City Council Agenda and Packet: Special Meeting, 5:30 p.m. Street Vending: Current Regulations, Enforcement Challenges, and Policy Options — Presentation The City Council will receive a presentation and provide direction to staff on policy options for responding to complaints and enforcing regulations related to street vendors. Regular Meeting, 7 p.m. Ceremonial: Domestic Violence Awareness Month – Proclamation October is recognized as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). During this month, communities, victim advocates, and organizations come together to raise awareness, honor survivors, and advocate for efforts to end domestic violence Fallen Heroes Award – Recognition The City will receive an Award of Merit for collaboration and effectiveness in delivering the memorial to the San Mateo Community. Suicide Prevention Month – Proclamation This September, the City formally recognizes Suicide Prevention Month with a proclamation dedicated to raising awareness, promoting mental health, and encouraging open conversations. By shining a light on the importance of prevention, support, and connection, we honor those we’ve lost, uplift survivors, and remind every resident that help is always within reach. Old Business 19th Avenue / Fashion Island Boulevard Multimodal Improvement Project - Informational Update City Council will receive an informational update on the initial design plans for the 19th Avenue / Fashion Island Boulevard Multimodal Improvement Project and provide feedback about the proposed design and outreach efforts. Public Hearing Consolidated Annual Progress and Evaluation Report (CAPER) for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) 2024-2025 Program Year - Adoption If approved, City Council will adopt the 2024-2025 Consolidated Annual Progress and Evaluation Report (CAPER) for and direct staff to submittal to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Agendas & Minutes Public Meeting Portal Community Development Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Community Workshop Join us for a virtual workshop to learn about future updates to the City's Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Ordinance. This workshop will focus on recent updates to State ADU Law, as well as proposed updates to the City's local ADU requirements. Let us know you're coming by registering at the link below! The temporary reduction in services this week is part of the City's ongoing commitment to serve the community by investing in staff training and education. During this time, CDD's staff hours of availability will be as follows: Limited Walk-In Counter Services for CDD: · Planning counter closure on Monday, Sept. 29 and Wednesday, Oct. 1 · Building Code Consultation counter closure on Monday Sept. 29 Limited Services for Building Permit Processes: · Up to a three-business-day turnaround time for Building Permit processes · Up to a two-business-day response time to general email and voicemail inquiries Limited Services for Building Inspections: ·Up to a five-business-day waiting time for building inspection scheduling Parks and Recreation Movies in the Park Continues Next Week with a Free Screening of Inside Out 2 Join us on Friday, Sept. 19 at Bay Meadows Park for a FREE screening of Inside Out 2. Día de los Muertos Community Event Coming on Oct. 11 You are invited to our Día De Los Muertos Celebration to be held on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center & Park. This cultural celebration honors loved ones who have passed away by celebrating them with flowers, traditional food, dancing, music, and more. Boos and Brews on B Street - Save the Date for Oct. 25! The City of San Mateo Parks and Recreation Department & the Downtown San Mateo Association present “Boo”s and Brews on B Street on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 3-5 p.m. on the Pedestrian Mall in downtown San Mateo (B Street between 1st & 3rd avenues). Join us for a FREE, FANG-tastic event including kid-friendly activities, crafts, photo booth, music, and not to mention, trick-or-treating! We encourage all to dress up in your Halloween costumes! NEW this year, Devil’s Canyon Brewing Co. will be selling beer & wine onsite with a percentage of the proceeds will be going to the Police Activities League. Central Recreation Center Getting New Roof The Central Recreation Center will be undergoing repairs and replacement of the roof starting Monday, Sept. 22, 2025. Repairs are estimated to last approximately six weeks. The center will remain open throughout the project. Please use caution while in the area, stay focused and abide by all posted signage.
