Hands on the Arts Festival

Saturday, Oct. 17
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 
Sunnyvale Community Center 

Join us for Sunnyvale’s 41st annual Hands on the Arts Festival! Enjoy free hands-on workshops, roving performers and food booths. Workshops are designed for specific age groups, and all supplies are provided. Children ages 3 and up can explore a variety of cultural art forms.

Volunteers Needed

Passionate about art and community? Volunteers ages 13 and older are needed for half- and full-day shifts at the festival.

Celebrate Sunnyvale at State of the City

Join your neighbors at City Hall on Saturday, Sept. 19 for the annual State of the City event celebrating local achievements, community leaders and the future of our city.

* *8:30 a.m. – Opening Reception & Council Meeting:* Enjoy live music, light refreshments and public comment.
* *9:30 a.m. – Mayor’s Address:* Hear updates on city initiatives, featuring special remarks and local poetry.
* *10:15 a.m. – Community Awards:* Honor Board and Commission members and standout community leaders.
* *11 a.m. – Closing Reception: *Mingle with neighbors, connect with community leaders and enjoy refreshments.

Give a Costume, Get a Costume!

Give your gently used Halloween costumes a second life and help another child celebrate the season! 

We are collecting gently used children’s costumes and accessories for our upcoming Halloween Costume Swap. Dropping off is quick and easy: 


* *When to Donate: *Sept. 14 to 30, during business hours
* *Where to Donate: *Columbia Neighborhood Center (785 Morse Ave.), Sunnyvale Community Center (550 E Remington Dr) or Sunnyvale Main Library (665 W Olive Ave.)

Then, save the date for the main event! Children of all ages are invited to pick out one free "new-to-them" costume, while supplies last.  No registration required!

Discover free and low-cost recreation, wellness and community programs at Columbia Neighborhood Center. 

Featured This Month

*Shape Up Sunnyvale* 

Get active and explore healthy cooking through free programs for Sunnyvale residents who may not otherwise be able to afford them. Fitness options vary, and weekly cooking kits include video instructions and optional Zoom support. The program is funded by El Camino Healthcare District. Call 408-730-7800 or email cnc@sunnyvale.ca.gov to join the interest list for the fall session. 

*Medical Services for Adults* 

Free medical services for uninsured adults with limited income are available Sept. 8 and 22 from 4 to 8 p.m. Appointments are encouraged and walk-ins are accepted. Call 408-568-3072 for an appointment. 


*Drop-In Pickleball for Beginners*

Enjoy beginner-friendly, recreational pickleball every Saturday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Columbia Neighborhood Center Gym. Bring your own paddle and balls. No instruction is provided.
