Get ready for this year’s Hot August Niles Car Show, one of the Bay Area’s most popular car events! On Sunday, August 9, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Niles Town Plaza, car enthusiasts of all ages can admire over 200 stunning vehicles. From timeless classics to cutting-edge modern rides, there’s something for every car lover, plus live music, tasty eats, local vendors, and more! As a reminder, expect delays this weekend due to multiple planned roadway and freeway closures. Give yourself time, be patient, and drive safely. Centerville Train Depot Plaza Improvements Project  

Progress is being made on the Centerville Train Depot Plaza Improvements Project. This week, the project received approval from the City’s Historical Architectural Review Board (HARB) on the final concept plan. The project will now move forward with the design phase, which will be complete by the end of 2026, and construction is expected to start in the summer of 2027.

The project is being funded by a $1.5 million Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities grant in partnership with the RCD Housing project at 3900 Thornton Avenue.  The project will improve access to transit to support affordable housing projects in the Centerville area.  Additionally, the project will create a gateway and landmark for the Centerville community and allow for the plaza to be utilized as a gathering and event space for community residents. Fremont’s electricity provider, *Ava Community Energy (Ava) [ https://avaenergy.org/ ]*, reinvests in the communities they serve by offering incentive programs for their customers.


* *Bike Electric* [ https://avaenergy.org/go-electric/e-bikes/bike-electric/ ]: With this e-bike incentive program, residents can apply for a chance to win a $400-$1,500 rebate on a new e-bike.
* *SmartHome Battery [ https://avaenergy.org/go-electric/residential-solar-storage/smarthome-battery/ ]*: With this battery rebate and incentive program, homeowners can add a battery to their existing solar system to increase their home’s energy resilience.

Together, these programs support Fremont residents in adopting cleaner technologies and creating more resilient homes!

New Mixed-Use Development Approved for Mission San Jose

On July 23, the City’s Planning Commission approved the Villa Ellsworth mixed‑use development, marking an important milestone for the Mission San Jose area in Fremont. This project will transform an underutilized 1.01‑acre site at 43341–43353 Mission Boulevard and 43350 Ellsworth Street into a carefully planned mix of new homes, ground floor commercial space, and revitalized historic assets.

The Villa Ellsworth project plan includes 17 new residential units (14 townhouse‑style condominiums and three condominium flats) designed in the Spanish Colonial Revival architectural style; 2,476 square feet of commercial retail space; and streetscape improvements designed to improve walkability, support placemaking, and reinforce the area’s historic village character.

Quarterly Maintenance at Central Park Dog Park

The *Central Park Large and Small Dog Park Areas [ https://www.fremont.gov/government/departments/parks-recreation/parks/dog-park ]* will be closed for quarterly maintenance August 10-14. The Dog Park will reopen on Friday, August 14 at noon. Tasks include deep steam cleaning, maintaining shrubs/trees, and disinfecting the turf, structures, fixtures, and drinking fountains.

The City of Fremont is proud to present the 56th Annual Textile Exhibition at Olive Hyde Art Gallery, featuring traditional and contemporary textile and fiber art by local artists. Visitors can explore a diverse collection of woven works, fiber sculptures, quilts, mixed-media textiles, and more.

Please join us for the opening reception on Friday, August 28, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and enjoy an evening of art and conversation with exhibiting artists. Admission is free and all are welcome.
