R3 Zoning District Update Project





R3 Zoning Update




This month, the City of Mountain View released the Notice of Preparation for the R3 Zoning District Update Environmental Impact Report (EIR). The purpose of the notice is to solicit comments from agencies and the public on the scope of analysis in the EIR. The deadline for these comments is *Friday, Aug. 8 at 5:00 p.m.* 

A public scoping meeting will be held on *Wednesday July 23, at 7:00 p.m.* to take comments regarding the scope and content of the draft EIR. Members of the public may participate virtually via Zoom webinar.

El Camino Real Pavement Rehabilitation





El Camino Real Pavement




Caltrans, in partnership with the City of Mountain View, is implementing several safety improvements along El Camino Real.

These improvements include the use of green paint in bike lanes where “conflict zones” exist. A conflict zone is anywhere that two or more different modes (vehicle/bus/bike) have access to the roadway. The green-painted areas along El Camino Real are there to alert all parties to be more aware of their surroundings when they are in those zones.

Please keep bike lanes clear by not parking or idling your vehicle in these areas.

Celebrate Local Innovation at Annual Technology Showcase 





Tech Showcase 2024




The 10th annual Mountain View Technology Showcase [ https://chambermv.org/technology-showcase ] is underway with sold-out panel discussions on July 16 and 17. The City of Mountain View and the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce co-host the Tech Showcase. The free public event continues Thursday, July 17, with interactive exhibits.

The showcase will feature live exhibitors providing hands-on demonstrations, career opportunities, and highlight cutting-edge technology being developed right here in Mountain View.






National Night Out Returns Aug. 5

Together, the City of Mountain View is building a safer, more connected community through events like the annual National Night Out.

Stop by for an evening of cold treats, chalk art, music by a live DJ, and fun for all ages. National Night Out is an opportunity to connect with  neighbors and meet members of the Mountain View Police Department, Mountain View Fire Department, and Recreation Division. The event will feature vehicle displays, City information booths, and more. 






Mountain View Public Library Expands History Center Hours





MV History Center




The Mountain View History Center [ https://library.mountainview.gov/learn/mountain-view-history/history-center-collection ] will expand its operating hours to include Thursday evenings from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. starting Thursday, July 17. The additional hours will make the History Center’s collections and services more accessible, allowing more residents to explore its unique resources and deepening their interest in Mountain View’s history.

The History Center, located at the Mountain View Public Library, will continue to be open on Tuesdays from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. or by appointment.






Citywide Garage Sale Registration Now Open





Citywide Garage Sale 2024




Seller registration is open for the Citywide Garage Sale that will take place on* Saturday, Sept. 13*, and* Sunday, Sept. 14, *from* 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.*

Join hundreds of residents holding garage sales at their homes. This event supports the City of Mountain View’s Zero Waste goals by keeping reusable items out of the landfill and conserving natural resources.

Sellers may choose to participate on only one day or both days of the sale. Online and printed address lists will show which days each participating seller is open.

An online map will allow participants to filter garage sales by date and items, as well as other enhanced features to help attendees plan which homes to visit for the event.

Registration closes Tuesday, Sept. 2. Residents can register their homes for the sale at MountainView.gov/GarageSale [ https://www.mountainview.gov/our-city/departments/public-works/recycling-zero-waste/events/citywide-garage-sale ].






"Music on Castro" Brings Weekly Entertainment to Downtown

Music on Castro continues every Wednesday as singers and songwriters perform live music on the 200 block of Castro Street. The community is invited to come out to enjoy the free entertainment while shopping and dining Downtown.

Summer Outdoor Movie Night Series Continues This Month

Get ready for another Summer Outdoor Movie Night! Enjoy a movie under the stars on Friday, July 18, featuring* Transformers One*. Beginning at 7:30 p.m., the first 50 youth to visit the information booth will receive a movie-themed giveaway pack. Glow sticks will be available for everyone.
