Mountain View City Council Adopts Budget for
Fiscal Year 2026-27
Budget 26_27 Cover
At the June 23, meeting, the Mountain View City Council adopted the Fiscal Year 2026-27 Recommended Budget. The Council also approved funding for the Recommended Fiscal Year 2026-27 Capital Improvement Program.
The City’s Recommended Budget is structurally balanced and continues to allocate resources toward long-term service delivery, core Citywide functions, Council Strategic Priority areas, continuous organizational improvement efforts, and innovative programs important to the Mountain View community. With this budget, the City continues planning for the Mountain View of tomorrow.
The new budget year begins on July 1 and runs through June 30, 2027. For more details, view the FY 2026-27 Recommended Budget [ https://www.mountainview.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/13313/639154913904200000 ].
Fourth of July Celebration
Fourth of July Fireworks
Mountain View City Hall and most City facilities will be closed on Friday, July 3, in observance of the Fourth of July holiday. Emergency services will continue. Call 9-1-1 if you have an emergency.
Remember, all consumer fireworks such as those labeled "Safe and Sane", are dangerous and illegal to use, possess, or sell in almost all of Santa Clara County.
Instead, think about viewing one of several fireworks displays throughout the county, including the 2026 Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular presented by the City of Mountain View and Live Nation on Saturday, July 4. The San Francisco Symphony will be performing “Summer of 1969: The Soundtrack of a Generation” at Shoreline Amphitheatre leading up to the fireworks.
Residents can receive discounted tickets by following the instructions and using the coupon available at MountainView.gov/FourthOfJuly [ https://www.mountainview.gov/FourthOfJuly ].
Families can also view the fireworks (without seeing the San Francisco Symphony) from designated viewing areas within Shoreline or by taking advantage of offerings at Shoreline Sailing Lake [ https://www.shorelinelake.com/ ] or Shoreline Golf Links [ https://shorelinelinks.com/ ].
Traffic and parking will be impacted for the fireworks, so please follow the guidance on the Fourth of July webpage and plan accordingly.
1976 Time Capsule Opening Planned for September
Time Capsule Plaque
In September, the City of Mountain View will hold a special community event to unveil the contents of a bicentennial time capsule located in Pioneer Park near the Mountain View Public Library. Following the event, the Library will display the contents of the 1976 time capsule for a limited time, allowing the community to explore the items and stories preserved for future generations.
