Fremont Technology Center Fully Leased: A Catalyst for Innovation and Growth

Developed and operated by Ares on behalf of large pension funds, the Fremont 880 Technology Center has quickly become fully leased within months of its completion! The center's two key tenants, leaders in artificial technology hardware and electric vehicle innovation, bolster Fremont's status as a premier hub for cutting-edge manufacturing and technology.

Spanning approximately 400,000 square feet across three state-of-the-art industrial buildings, the Fremont 880 Technology Center was made possible by council action to change the zoning and general plan land use designation from regional commercial to industrial, enabling a new employment hub to support the city's growth. The fully leased 880 Tech Center exemplifies the ongoing transformation of Fremont's industrial landscape, driven by robust demand and a clear vision for future development. Additional projects are underway, reinforcing the shift towards next-generation industrial facilities in the city.

Ava Community Energy [ https://avaenergy.org/ ]
Fremont’s Transition to 100% Renewable Energy

This August, Fremont begins its transition to 100% renewable energy! The City and *Ava Community Energy (Ava) [ https://avaenergy.org ]*, our city’s electricity provider, will designate Ava’s Renewable 100 plan as the default electricity service plan for residential customers in Fremont. This plan supplies 100% renewable energy and is priced slightly above the other available service plans, costing about $3–$6 more per month than Ava’s Bright Choice plan (Fremont’s current default plan) and $1–$4 more per month than PG&E.

The transition to Renewable 100 is outlined in Fremont’s *Climate Action Plan [ https://www.fremont.gov/climateactionplan ]*, as it will provide cleaner energy to residents and businesses and achieve the high-priority goal of reducing community-wide greenhouse gas emissions.

The transition to Renewable 100 will occur this August for residential customers and in August 2026 for commercial customers. CARE, FERA, Medical Baseline, and customers who have opted out of Ava service to PG&E will not be automatically transitioned to Renewable 100.

As a Fremont customer, you still have the same choices in service plans. You can choose between Renewable 100, Bright Choice, or PG&E, and you can change your plan at any time.

If you do not want to automatically transition to Renewable 100, and you want to remain on Fremont’s current default service plan, Bright Choice, or opt out of Ava service and select PG&E, you can easily make that change. Visit *AvaEnergy.org/Fremont* [ https://avaenergy.org/fremont ], call Ava at 833-699-3223, or email Ava at *customer-support@AvaEnergy.org*. To prevent charges for Renewable 100 service, submit your request by Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

Fremont Earns Global Recognition for Environmental Transparency and Climate Action [ https://www.cdp.net/en/data/scores? ]
Fremont Earns Global Recognition for Environmental Transparency and Climate Action

Fremont has been recognized for its global leadership in environmental transparency, climate action, and resilience planning, earning a spot on the 2024 CDP A List [ https://www.cdp.net/en/data/scores ]. This top status is awarded by CDP, the largest global independent environmental disclosure system. Only 112 cities worldwide earned CDP’s top status, including 29 U.S. cities, the most from any country.

To be recognized with an A, cities must publicly disclose through CDP-ICLEI Track and meet rigorous criteria—including a city-wide emissions inventory, a climate risk and vulnerability assessment (CRVA), and a published climate action plan. Transparent disclosure provides a platform for cities to track progress, engage communities, and allow access to funding to accelerate solutions and strengthen long-term community resilience.

As an A List city, Fremont is proud to demonstrate climate innovation, infrastructure investment, and economic opportunity. We are committed to being transparent about how we are prioritizing and integrating climate resiliency and sustainability across our city. From investing in renewable energy infrastructure to promoting a stronger local economy, Fremont is forging ahead on climate action.

Our progress towards a climate ready Fremont would not be possible without our community’s collective efforts. Thank you for doing your part!
