Waste Collection Service Alert, Waste Bins [ https://www.fremont.gov/Home/Components/News/News/1401/1067? ]
Waste Collection Service Alert

As the current waste collection service disruption from Republic Services continues, the City is providing another update to keep our community informed.

* Republic Services is continuing to collect garbage carts (black carts) that residents previously reported as missed.
* Republic Services has started collecting residential recycling carts (blue carts) and organics/yardwaste carts (green carts) from Tuesday customers.
* Tomorrow, July 19, Republic Services will begin to collect residential recycling carts (blue carts) and organics/yardwaste carts (green carts) from Wednesday customers.
* If you are a residential customer with a Monday through Thursday route that still has not received a garbage pickup, please email your address to *environment@fremont.gov*. Our team will forward your information to Republic Services. Due to the large volume of emails and calls we are receiving, you may not receive an individual reply*. *However, please be assured your address will be shared with Republic Services. It is not necessary to call and email the City and also contact Republic Services. Please only contact us one time to expedite service.
* If you have a bulky pickup scheduled, please do not set out materials. Contact Republic Services to reschedule your appointment.
* City of Fremont Maintenance Operations staff is working to clear the streets of bulky materials that were placed out but not collected last week and emptying public litter containers throughout the city.
* For commercial customers with shared dumpsters, which may include apartment/condo/townhome complexes, Republic Services is continuing to expand the number of routes in service. The City is deploying additional crews to help with this effort.
* Remember that you can continue to drop-off your normal household trash, recycling, and organics/yardwaste for free at the *Fremont Recycling and Transfer Station [ https://fremont-recycling.com/ ]*, located at 41149 Boyce Rd. Please bring any type of proof of Fremont residency/business. The Fremont Recycling and Transfer Station is open to the public from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm. The wait time is generally 15 minutes.

Please note that another update is expected this evening. That update and all future updates will be available on the City’s webpage at  *city.fremont.gov/wastecollectionservicealert [ https://city.fremont.gov/wastecollectionservicealert ].*

100% renewable energy is coming to Fremont [ https://avaenergy.org/Fremont? ]
Fremont’s Transition to 100% Renewable Energy

Fremont residents, your electricity service will switch to 100% renewable energy this August! This energy will come from clean sources like wind and solar.

Renewable 100:

The City of Fremont and *Ava Community Energy (Ava)* [ https://avaenergy.org/ ], Fremont’s electricity provider, will designate Ava’s Renewable 100 plan as the default electricity service plan for residents. This plan is priced slightly above the other available service plans, costing about $3–$6 more per month than Ava’s Bright Choice plan (Fremont’s default plan since 2018) and $1–$4 more per month than PG&E.

The transition to Renewable 100 will occur this August for residential customers and in August 2026 for commercial customers. CARE, FERA, Medical Baseline, and customers who have opted out of Ava service to PG&E will not be transitioned.

Even with Fremont’s transition to Renewable 100, you'll still have the same plan options you have now, but you’ll need to take action if you don't want your plan to change. To remain on Fremont’s current default service plan, Bright Choice (5% below PG&E rates), or opt out of Ava service and select PG&E, visit *AvaEnergy.org/Fremont [ https://avaenergy.org/Fremont ] *by Wednesday, July 23. You can still change your plan at any time after this date, but it will take one to two billing cycles for a change to take effect, so you will see charges for the Renewable 100 plan on your bill until your change is active.

The transition to Renewable 100 is outlined in Fremont’s *Climate Action Plan* [ https://www.fremont.gov/climateactionplan ], as it will provide cleaner energy to residents and businesses and achieve the high-priority goal of reducing community-wide greenhouse gas emissions.

Ava Community Energy:

*Ava Community Energy (Ava) [ https://avaenergy.org/ ]* is a not-for-profit public agency that provides electricity generation service for Alameda County and parts of San Joaquin County. While PG&E still handles the delivery of electricity to your home—including maintaining the electric grid, handling billing, and resolving outages—Ava is responsible for sourcing and supplying the electricity that PG&E delivers.

For more information, visit *AvaEnergy.org/Fremont [ https://avaenergy.org/Fremont ]* or contact Ava’s customer support team at 833-699-3223 (weekdays 9:00 am. – 5:00 pm) or *customer-support@AvaEnergy.org*.
