Get Your Free Ticket Introducing My San Mateo: Your Portal to Request City Services The City of San Mateo has launched My San Mateo, a new app and website that makes it easier to connect with your City and request services anytime, anywhere. Report issues, track requests and receive updates in one place. My San Mateo allows residents to access information, submit service requests and follow the status of their requests. Community members can access My San Mateo through their preferred web browser on their computers or phones. iPhone users can download the My San Mateo app through the Apple App Store. Deadline to apply is Friday, April 24, at 5 p.m. Apply Today Public Works March 2026 Update on the Delaware Street Bike Lane Improvements Project The City's contractor began working on improvements to Delaware Street in mid-March, marking the first phase of the project. Current work includes concrete demolition and installation for curb ramp improvements along Delaware Street. This initial phase focuses on required sidewalk upgrades at the following intersections of Delaware Street and: Bermuda Drive Saratoga Drive East 25th Avenue East 28th Avenue Work at these locations is expected to continue for approximately five weeks. Please pay attention to signage in these work zones, as there are pedestrian detours in place around sidewalk closures and active construction areas. We appreciate the community’s patience during construction. Previous Update – February 2026 Construction was anticipated to begin in March 2026, with the first phase (March through May) consisting of sidewalk improvements at key intersections along Delaware Street. Pedestrian detours and clear signage were planned to accommodate safe travel around work areas. Subsequent phases of the project will include roadway paving and traffic signal improvements, currently scheduled for late September through October 2026. The project is anticipated to reach substantial completion by November 2026. Join Us for our Annual Earth Day Cleanup on April 25 Join the City of San Mateo for a fun-filled Earth Day Cleanup as we do our part to "Team Up to Clean Up" the Bayfront! DATE: April 25, 2026 TIME: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. LOCATION: Ryder Park, 1801 J Hart Clinton Dr. San Mateo 94401 Join hundreds of volunteers to help pick up thousands of pounds of debris and clean up our shoreline. Be prepared to get dirty, have a good time, and help the environment! Be sure to wear old clothes and sturdy shoes (no flip flops or open-toed shoes). To reduce waste, please bring a reusable water bottle, reusable gloves and/or a reusable bucket for litter collection. After the event, we will host a free BBQ to thank our volunteers for all their hard work. This year's event will feature music and games provided by San Mateo Parks & Recreation Mobile Rec team and DJ Ed! Come join in on the fun and help keep our Bayfront clean and beautiful. Application deadline: April, 14, 2026 Apply today: https://www.calopps.org/san-mateo/job-20721785 Community Development Virtual Public Meeting on April 13: San Mateo County Multi-City Inclusionary Zoning and Affordable Housing Study The City of San Mateo has joined other jurisdictions in San Mateo County for a countywide study of affordable housing policies that apply to new development projects. The Grand Nexus Study will inform updates to the City's Below Market-Rate (BMR) ordinance and Commercial Linkage Fee, two initiatives included in the City's 2023-2031 Housing Element workplan that are planned for 2026. The project team, led by Strategic Economics and Community Planning Collaborative, is hosting a virtual public meeting to share the purpose and goals of the study and explain how the findings could be used to support policies that help produce more affordable housing in the City of San Mateo. The meeting will provide an opportunity for members of the public to ask questions and participants will also be invited to provide feedback on these policies via a follow-up online survey. Parks and Recreation Upcoming Impacts: Central Park Playground Renovation As the City ramps up work on the Central Park Playground, we want to note the upcoming site closures and utility interruptions. Please mark your calendars for the following impacts: April 7-8, 2026 | All Day: Fitzgerald Field and the picnic area at Central Park, including the temporary restrooms, will be closed due to construction activities related to the playground renovation project. Public restrooms are available at the 5th Avenue entrance. April 13 | 2-5 p.m.: The electrical power in the whole park will be switched off, which will temporarily affect the restrooms and all other park facilities. For everyone’s safety, please use caution while in the area, stay focused and abide by all posted signage. Project updates can be found online at the Central Park Playground project webpage. Reminder: Upcoming Closure at the Japanese Garden The Japanese Garden will be closed for tree work from Monday, March 30, through Friday, April 3, 2026.  Please use caution when in the area and abide by all posted signage. We appreciate everyone's patience! Road Closures from CalTrans U.S. 101 - SR-92 Overnight Ramp Closures on April 6 Caltrans has rescheduled concrete placement work in San Mateo at the U.S. 101 / State Route (SR) 92 interchange. The westbound SR-92 to southbound U.S. 101 ramp closure, originally scheduled for Thursday, March 26, will instead be closed on Monday, April 6, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Detour: Take the loop off-ramp to Delaware St, turn right on Concar, turn right onto South Delaware, merge onto eastbound SR-92 and access the off-ramp to southbound U.S. 101. In addition, the southbound U.S. 101 to Fashion Island Blvd. off-ramp will be closed starting on Monday, April 6, beginning at 8 p.m. and will open on Tuesday morning, April 7, at 7 a.m. Detour: Take westbound SR-92, exit at Delaware, turn right on Concar, right on Grant, left at 19th, and continue onto Fashion Island Blvd. This work is part of the $45 million U.S. 101- SR-92 Short-term Improvements Project that is co-sponsored by the San Mateo County Transportation Authority and City/County Association of Governments. The project will bring operational improvements, enhancement to local access and promotion of economic vitality to the region.  All work is weather dependent. Please drive with caution. For real-time traffic, click on Caltrans QuickMap: quickmap.dot.ca.gov/ Overnight Ramp Closure on I-280/SR-92 Starting Monday, April 6 - Friday, April 10 Caltrans has scheduled a closure of the northbound I-280 ramp to westbound State Route 92 (SR-92) so that crews can make emergency repairs to joint seals. The ramp will be closed each night from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting Monday, April 6, and finishing Saturday morning, April 11. Northbound I-280 to westbound SR-92 traffic will be detoured as follows: 1) Take exit to SR-92 East 2) Take the Ralston Ave exit 3) Turn right to go north on Ralston Ave 4) Take the SR-92 West onramp Caltrans thanks you for your patience in its work to maintain our state’s highways, bridges and tunnels. Community Partner Update Reminder: Blue Zones Keynote Event With Peninsula Health Care District on Tuesday, April 7 Peninsula Health Care District is partnering with Blue Zones to explore how our community can create environments that make healthy choices easier, supporting people to live longer, better lives at every stage. The community is invited to a special Blue Zones Keynote Presentation as an official kick off of the Blue Zones Assessment in San Mateo County. This keynote will set the vision for the Ignite Assessment and introduce the research, stories and possibilities behind Blue Zones.
