Open to grades 9 to 12.

 

Have fun while supporting your Library and developing valuable job skills. Help with our programs, collections and special events throughout the year. Earn community service hours for school or for fun. Scheduling varies.

Teen Zine Workshop

Join Artist Buppydogs to learn how to make an 8-page zine! The artist will share their original comic zines and teach different styles, themes, and formats for zines. This workshop encourages participants to explore creative self expression in a narrative format, whether it be writing, drawing, or both. Participants will come out of the workshop with an original publication and the skills to create narrative work. This workshop fosters a safe space for community building.

 

This workshop will center on themes of connection & chosen family, especially within the queer community.

Experience Retro Roadshow, the Bay Area's premier pop-up museum of vintage technology!

 

This action-packed multimedia presentation dives into the multi-decade battle between video game companies vying to be number one. Following the presentation, you are invited to join the battle and get hands-on with a curated console collection including Atari, ColecoVision, Vectrex, Sega, Nintendo, Neo Geo, TurboGrafx-16, 3DO and more. Will you return to an old favorite or discover a previously-overlooked gem? The battle lines have been drawn and everyone who attends Console Chaos will emerge victorious!

Book Repair Clinic

Book repair and preservation is not just for historical books but for the beloved books in your home library. Library Staff will work to increase the life of the books from your home library by providing simple repairs and reinforcement.

Please note that not all damage may be repairable. We would advise against bringing rare or expensive books - this style of repair and reinforcement is more practical than archival.

Repairs & reinforcement will be first come, first served. Maximum 3 books per household.

NAMI: Ending the Silence

NAMI Ending the Silence (ETS) is a 50-minute FREE mental health awareness program for middle & high school age youth. Teens learn how to recognize the early warning signs of mental illness and what to do if they or someone they know is exhibiting these signs. NAMI Ending the Silence instills a message of hope and recovery and encourages teens to reduce stigma and end the silence surrounding mental illness.

This program is for grades 6-12. For the best experience, please arrive on time.

SOGIE 101 (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression)

Join us for an Allyship Training. SOGIE 101 offers a clear and engaging introduction to sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression. Participants will build awareness of personal and institutional biases, learn respectful and inclusive practices, and gain tools to support others. Be part of building a welcoming Sunnyvale where everyone belongs.
