Check out: NAMI - San Mateo County San Mateo County’s Mental Health Star Vista     We came together and attended the recent Public Safety Community Meeting Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Public Safety Community Meeting on Tuesday, May 13. I want to acknowledge my colleague Councilmember James Coleman (District 4) and our Police Chief Scott Campbell for hosting this important conversation, and being transparent about the dialogue and what was shared. Thank you to our community for showing up, asking thoughtful questions, and seeking understanding. We hold these spaces to be able to provide factual information and understand that everyone processes in different ways. It was important we held this for our community and we will continue to do so as it is needed. We know the April 28 incident on Arroyo Drive left many feeling shaken. But Tuesday’s meeting reminded us of the power of coming together, listening, and supporting one another. Let’s keep moving forward—stronger, more informed, and united as one South City. 🌟 If you missed the meeting and want to see the replay, you can do so here.     City Council Meeting Recap Girl Scouts Troop 62501 led us in the Pledge of Allegiance at this week’s council meeting. We recognized May 18-24, 2025 as National Public Works Week, and recognized the month of May as Older Americans’ Month, National Bike Month, and Mental Health Awareness Month. We held a public hearing on the adoption of an ordinance amending the Tobacco Retailer Permit and repealing in its entirety the sales of flavored tobacco products, pharmacy sales of tobacco plants, and sales of electronic smoking devices. We also received various updates from City staff regarding key initiatives, including a presentation on the Linden Avenue Park project, a report regarding an ordinance to adopt the updated California Fire Hazard Severity Zone (FHSZ) Maps, a report regarding a proposed Affordable Housing Financing Plan (AHFP) that would guide the City’s biennial funding priorities in relation to existing housing goals, policies, programs, and funding availability.
